Hi
My Gt3 997.1 is going in for its mot and warranty check for renewal next friday. A fabulous car, the best ive ever owned, But i been tempted by the Mclaren MP4 12. I have a test drive booked at Mclaren London next Saturday on a used 2012 model.I am working with the figurs to see if the GT3 can stay with me. If it has to go i know i will miss it.Any owners gone from a GT3 to Mclaren?
Here is my car, Extended leather, its everywhere. Sat nav, Carbon brakes, cofully electric comfort seats. 17,200 miles It should be a keeper

I did exactly the same move. Both Brilliant cars and you will enjoy both, but quite different characters. I think the 12C takes longer to gel with but has great hidden talents whereas the gt3 is very sensory. The big difference is the 12C is a supercar whereas the gt3 (in my mind at least) is a sports car. you might miss the interaction you have with the gt3's manual gearbox and great steering but I didn't regret the move as for most of the time the 12C is the more relaxing place to be and certainly more of an 'event'.

Did the opposite, albeit to a gen2 and at the moment I can't find it within myself to sell the 12c. It's a great car though and hugely capable as a road car, pretty sure you will like it.

I test drove a 12C and bought a GT2. The 12C is a nice car and fast as hell as well but there is something about it I just couldn't put my finger on. Its a very capable car but if I where you I would stick with the GT3. My experience could have been influenced by the stty car sales men at the time though.

Keep the GT3!

Far more involving than the Mc which IMO whilst being undoubtedly competent, suffers from emotional detachment.....yes

Furthermore way GT3s prices are rising due to analogue demand, the car will pay you to keep it.....in contrast to the Mc which has some way to fall residually....thumbup

I know what you guys are saying. I had a drive of my mates Ferrari 458 spider, lovely car, but enjoyed getting back into mine. I also got praise from the owner that the GT3 was more of a challeng. Out on the twisty road the 458 and another mates Gallardo Lp560 there is nothing in it, Neather can pull away from the old Gt3

After a test drive in the Mclaren the other weekend, i felt unsure whether to sell the GT3.But after a great drive this weekend ive deceided to stay with the GT3 for the time being. The GT3 still gives me the buzz as when i bought it 19 months ago.Its never let me down, and ive had no reliability issues. It feels a bit of a dinosour compared to the technological Mclaren, but for my reasons i like that. Very rewarding

I've owned both, had one of the very first MP4's delivered to me three years ago. They are totally different cars to the GT3 and I think are largely incomparable. Perhaps it is just familiarity, but the GT3 is just not the "event" that the MP4 is, to me, it simply does not feel quite as special.

MP-4 should be an awesome experience and step forward.

Agree about ditching the arch protectors on the GT3 though.
