Hi Chaps new here and would like some help. Sounds like my GT3 is finally going to be Built (sept/oct) and have been requested to give my list of options etc. Have told the misses we can get a baby seat in the back (only way she would let me buy it!!) but after looking into it sounds like I can only fit a baby seat in the front and it needs to be the standard seats (bucket seats dont have isofix) . Is this correct?

Sad I am having to ask this question i know!!!

I think buckets are generally thought to be essential on a gt3. Why is isofix a must?

I've certainly seen a child seat in a Porsche bucket before (though pretty sure that it can't have been Isofix mounted). Think long and hard before ordering a GT3 without buckets..... Just wrong without them wink

I put the porsche child seat in the buckets no problem. Fits perfect. Dealer said first time he seen anybody do that! smile

Clubsport is a must for a GT3 if you ask me.

Comfort spec is fine for the 991.....and a good proportion of the 132 UK cars are without buckets....this thankfully is a totally different car to previous gens and hence a different market with increased 'bandwidth' than the more specialist 'restricted' usage bearded 997.....hehe

Many including me will be using their cars as daily drivers and one chap posted intending doing a reppy 20k miles a year...such is the brilliance of this car....so it is lilkely there is and will be little difference in residuals......thumbup

Can only speak for North America, but the GT3 is classified as a two-seater and there is no insurance for passengers in the back. I would as a minimum check my coverage.

Which child seat are you using?

Here in New Zealand there have certainly been a few 997 GT3's (comfort spec) that have had rear seats and seat belts fitted by the dealer to assist people with kids.

It's very easy to do apparently and I'm sure the 991 will be no different.

The 7.2 couldn't be fitted with rear belts due the rear seat area being single skinned or something, I wonder if they've continued this on the 991 or just used a standard shell ?

I use a Porsche junior seat in my buckets (it has isofix for use in our other cars)and is held in place just fine with the seatbelt.

If the buckets are folding in the 991, I'd be surprised if somebody couldn't make a retrofit isofix bar work ?

I know this is a sports car but why not fit an isofix bar in the back?

You do realise that the 991 GT3 handbook explicitly states:

"Child restraint systems must not be used in sports bucket seats"...??

Equally, the 996 handbook states that you should never drive on the public road with the front section of the cage installed and plenty disregarded that. The statement is an indemnity, not a legal requirement - it is for the owner to decide how much weight to give it when making their decision whether to follow the instruction or not. You are right to highlight it though thumbup

Maybe it's not possible to deactivate the airbag in the bucket seats which may then injure a small child if they go off.

Again, according the the handbook:

"The key switch for switching off the passenger airbag, the PASS AIR BAG OFF warning light and the ISOFIX attachment bracket are not installed at the factory. They can be retrofitted, but not to vehicles with bucket seats."

For the avoidance of doubt, I have the handbook here in front of me - I've not memorised the entire booklet....
