911 (996) Turbo as an investment prospect
Discussion
Deep Breath...
I'm a frequenter of the Caterham section and while I love my "7" to bits I am just thinking about the future. In this respect, while my 7 has gone up in value since I bought it in 2008 (paid £16k for 2002 car with 1600 miles on it, now valued at £20k but I have spent in excess of £12k on various upgrades including taking the engine from 140 bhp to over 200 bhp), and having looked at the "undesirable" Ferrari 348 prices jump by £10k this past year on PH classifieds, would now be a good time to consider a 996 Turbo as a long term investment as a "third" car?
My 7 even now only has 14k miles on it, so I would be doing less than 3k miles/year. The only downside I can see are insurance, servicing and parts costs in comparison to mine but I am guessing now as I have no idea.
Any thoughts appreciated - also, would I be wrong to consider a Cabrio version?

Can't see the Turbo being an investment prospect. One of the GT cars would at least have a fighting chance.
I would disagree, as would this PH article:http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=105&i=276...
996 Turbo looks like a massive bargain at the moment; I can't see prices staying low in the long term.
