GT3RS + The Ring = Joy
Discussion
Just returned from two days with DN at the Ring. Wanted to share my thoughts.
Event was run very well by Darren and the team and weather was perfect. Only negative was multiple closures on first day due to numerous accidents following some rather exuberant driving, but it was a lot calmer on second day.
It was my first time at the ring in the 7.2 RS (or any 911) and the car was utterly amazing once I got a bit more familiar with both the track and the dynamics of the car. As the head instructor on the event said, there are the perfect cars for the Ring and having been to the Ring in a few other cars in last few years, by the end of the trip I had to agree with him.
Turn in, lateral grip and traction all absolutely fabulous so you really build your speed as the laps go buy and you realise what the car can do. That engine can take all you throw at it and no doubt more - what a unit it is! Broad shouldered enough to mean you are not having to stir the box the whole time. Amazing soundtrack too.
The cars can do all of this then drive 650 miles home in one stint without missing a beat or even becoming uncomfortable or uncivilised. I bought the car in December and have really enjoyed it since but this trip just blew me away - what a car! Hard to imagine not wanting to keep it for as long as possible.
I therefore urge any RS or GT3 owners (or potential owners) to get themselves out and go have a real adventure in your car ,ideally to the Ring, to discover exactly what these cars are really capable of. They are simply too special to leave as garage queens. Life affirming moments beckon...
End of sermon.

I drove my mates back from the Le mans classic yesterday after he had a bit of a fall out with the Gendarmerie. Have to say without a doubt the best car I've ever driven, the steering feel, grip, balance and noise.. Wow, yet no drama or aches after 6hrs in the saddle. As much as an epic car it is, made my 997.1 turbo feel a tad wooly when I got back in it this morning. Next need to try one on a track, must be on another level in that environment.
Agree wholehearted. It's a truly epic place in a GT3 - one lap and you are hooked! There were so many GT3s in the car park they were almost common. Great to see 4.0s being spanked mercilessly it's what these cars were designed for after all.
Thanks to LaSource for the PAX laps. Bring on next year.
Cheers

Yip I had a great time, not in pork tho.
Anyone know who was in a silver GT3 UK reg ending 444? he showed some cracking courtesy in letting me past at my fave Pflanzgarten bit & couldn't find him/her? afterwards to say thanks.
FAB 444? Fellow silver GT3 owner called Phil Harrison, met him a few times at track days. Very nice chap, obviously mirrored by his driving style. He was is the inner car park near the entrance barrier (not by the Devil's Diner).Anyone know who was in a silver GT3 UK reg ending 444? he showed some cracking courtesy in letting me past at my fave Pflanzgarten bit & couldn't find him/her? afterwards to say thanks.

Utterly wonderful...have done in multiple cars including my 7.1 and 7.2RS...and going back next year when I pick up 991 RS:

I simply cannot think of anything that compares with the experience....
Really nice cars you have, I know you live in Canada so do you fly the cars over to Germany, drive the Ring and then fly them home again?

I shipped the green car over from Canada as it was a cancellation from someone else and I could not get Euro delivery as a result. The Gen.2 car was factory delivery so I was able to avoid all that trouble and expense. The 991 RS will be delivered at factory also and, of course, will have to have its initiation over there
