Having spend 11yrs in a 928, I finally decided to broaden my horizons and bought a kettle...
Polar Silver LHD Mk1 GT3 CS MY2000
3 owners from new, 40,000km, FSH
1st owner Olaf Manthey
K400 Engine - headers, 200 cell cats, exhaust, MAF delete, Alfa-N, Carbon intake shroud
Manthey Cup canted radiators, bumper cut outs
Manthey Cup flywheel
Manthey Cup clutch kit
Manthey Cup short shift
Manthey Cup shift cables
Manthey Steel synchros on all gears
Manthey Cup diff plates
Manthey BBS LM 9x18 ET50 and 11x18 ET56
Manthey 6-pot front brake kit 350mm discs
Manthey 4-pot rear brake kit 350mm discs
Manthey KW 3 suspension
Manthey top mounts
Manthey Roll cage
The rest is just standard GT3 CS fare - some sort of Becker sat nav, unmarked interior and Nomex Recaros with 6-point belts, fire extinguisher, full toolkit, no xenons.
Passed the 111 check at Porsche with flying colours. It had a new clutch, diff plates, radiators + condenser and protective mesh at 33,000km alongside some other stuff thus I guess it is a GT3, which does not need £10k thrown at it right away (famous last words)
The only shame - I am off to Spain and Portugal for a 2-week driving holiday in a E46 M3 Convertible, while the car will be delivered in London next weekend. Thus I don't get to drive it for another 3 weeks.
And, yes, my 928 GTS 5-spd is staying. Still the best long distance car Porsche ever made.

Well done OP.
It's said quite a bit but they are special cars. The rarity, purity and the scream at the top end are rarely found.
I'm going the opposite way to you and have to say bye to mine soon. Very bloody annoying, but at least I've owned one.
Enjoy!
Ps you know the rules. Where are the pictures.

Many congrats.
Sounds like an interesting car - Olaf's development car with all the go faster bits??
I am sure you will love it.
It is indeed Olaf's development car... Sounds like an interesting car - Olaf's development car with all the go faster bits??

Only have this picture of it. There is a long article about the car on Manthey's website which is a PDF taken from Porsche Scene (German Porsche Mag) celebrating the GT3s 10th anniversary in 2009. Wish I can provide the link, but while their cars are a piece of art, their website is stuck in circa 1994...

P.S. Thanks for the compliments

nice work Alex.
you may rememeber me from a few years back and the ring trips with Bruce. used to stay at Markos and I had a few golfs and M3s. got a 996 GT3 mk2 and they are great cars.
how is the orange peril 928?
enjoy the mk1 and am sure its a WELL sorted car if manthey have been all over it.
maybe catch up with you soon at a track day or ring trip.

The car is very sorted... Olaf would drive a s

The Orange Peril was shipped to New Zealand where Nick now resides. It underwent a full body restoration and the engine got ITBs, so it is pushing close to 500bhp and 600Nm. Properly quick as well - you will need a 997.2 GT3 to stay with it in a straight line. Still one of my all time favourite cars...
Once it is on UK plates, the car will definitely make an appearance at a track day. Thinking it will be Bedford - don't know the car at all, never driven a 911 in anger on track, hence I need all the margin for error I can get. Brands is 10mins down the road from me, but I cannot bear the thought of stuffing it at Paddock as I am getting used to the engine being in the wrong place...
good to hear from you chap and chuffed for you. it sounds awesome.
great to hear that the 928 is well and alive.
good plan on bedford. I am doing Bedford next Monday in fact in mine as only had it a few months and I want plenty of run off to learn the limit. also need to trash the nasty Pirelli tyres it came with too. no better place than Bedford ;-)
before the GT3 I had an M3 CSL and its a totally different car. mid corner liberties end in huge fun and power slides in the CSL....in a GT3 it would end up in tears.
will keep you posted on how it goes.

I come from a very similar background - remember the Imola Red Z4MC with 500+ Touristenfahrten laps I had from new. Very similar hooligan nature to a CSL, then the 928 and 944 race cars - impossible to unsettle, hence I am about to treat the GT3 with the utmost respect. It is totally new to me. Bedford sounds like the best place to explore/exceed the limits in relative safety. Just hope the Manthey exhaust passes thru the noise test...

Oh no you've bought a silver GT3 - prepare for lots of comments about being boring, a beard, dull........yadda yadda yadda

When it comes to finding a Mk1 CS with that mileage, provenance and history beggars cannot be choosers

Mind you, my 928 GTS 5-spd is Polar Silber, so I am actually pretty chuffed with my luck
