Carbon ceramic brakes question
Discussion
Advice needed please. A friend overseas has the chance to buy a 2005 996 Turbo with ceramic stoppers that has been laid up in a garage for a few years. Does this length of inactivity necessarily have any detrimental effect on Porsche ceramics of this vintage?
I appreciate there will be a whole lot of potential re -commissioning issues but am particularly interested in this brakes question given cost of replacement ( if he wanted to replace like for like rather than with steels).
Any views/knowledge greatly appreciated.

The brake pad friction material has possibly started to separate from the back plates - it's an age related problem apparently. My 2005 996tt S did it at 8 years old with front inner pads that were hardly worn, and my specialist said it's a common problem with PCCBs.
Budget 400 quid per axle for new OEM pads, worst case.
