Has anyone done it? The 997TT I've owned for a year is bar far the most accomplished and quickest car I've ever had the pleasure to own. BUT I need to scratch that Ferrari itch and 355's are going up, I'd like to get one before they are out of my reach tbh.

All views/comments and opinions are welcome, I totally know that it be MUCH SLOWER then the turbo.

Well, certainly not a like for like! As long as it is a second or third car, you'll be more rose tinted about the 'quirks' and enjoy the highlights.

The point is that the 355 looks and sounds great. That is all the justification required to scratch that itch, in my book.

Have you considered perhaps hiring one for a weekend first?

Not exactly the same but I went from 996TT to a 360. Best thing I ever did.

The Turbo is so quick (and I had mine chipped to over 500bhp) but I found it a bit sterile. There was no noise, no drama. I've always been a Ferrari man so I took the plunge and it was incredible. The first time you drive 'your' Ferrari home is so much more special. The raw feeling, the light but accurate front end, the prancing horse staring at you from the steering wheel. And the noise. What a noise, nothing comes close.

It was always a sense of occasion driving the 360. People notice and smile more than they do in a Porsche.

Downsides: you do worry about bills and the supposed fragility of the cars. I never had a problem with mine - best bit of advice I can give is buy the very best car you can find/afford. It will come back to you, both in maintenance costs and resale. Cheap cars are cheap for a reason and 355s are more expensive than 360s to keep on the road. Second best piece of advice I'll give is speak to Tim at Walkersport. Knows all there is to know about V8 Ferraris.

I'd have loved a 355 but I don't have a garage - the open mesh engine cover put paid to 355 ownership. Also wanted the cheapest/hassle free year of ownership.

Regret what you have done, not what you haven't. Do it, enjoy it but be aware it will cost more that your 997 to run. But it will be worth it!

Now back to a 997.2 C4S - daughter has arrived and can't turn the airbag off on wary airbag Fezzas. It's a great car, far better than the 996 TT, but I still pine for my 360. The noise. I did mention that, right?

Can't help with the Turbo comparison, but 355s are great cars. I had one for c 2.5 years and 20k miles - best miles in my life so far. Car put a smile on my face every time I looked at it / started it / drove it.

Tim at WalkerSport is great and if I was looking for another Ferrari in the UK he would be the first person I'd call.
