A question on servicing for 911 4s
Discussion
I own a low mileage, 2008 911 4s (18,000 miles only). I have a local (general) mechanic I trust for servicing, and my question is whether I ought use him or do I need a "specialist" stamp in my service book. I appreciate the old adage of 'pays your money and takes your choice', but my question is really whether there's something so fundamentally specialised or technical that I should only use a mechanic that deals with them day in day out. The car is not used daily or for short journeys.
Boring post I know, but any observations/comments gratefully received.
Incidentally, my first porsche and I love the car.

To be honest for a minor I expect your local chap will do as good a job as anyone, however he may not have the experience to spot any potential problems. I think I would want an OPC/specialist to do a major.
You may also find that the lack of a "recognised" stamp in the history may harm you come resale time.

I don't think you need an OPC unless you are looking to maintain the warranty but a specialist will have access to things like diagnostic tools etc and I'd want the security of knowing that as well as the visual checks any competent garage can do, someone had looked at the print outs too. Your profile doesn't say where you are but if you are in a major population area there are no shortage of good indies and people in here will be happy to recommend one. Great cars - my first Porsche was also a 997 4S.
