Hi chaps,

Am likely getting a new set of wheels for next track season. Currently running Oz Allegerittas. Thinking of changing to BBS E88s or HRE C100s
http://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-c1/c100

Does anyone have any experience or info on the latter?

Cheers

Why the change? Just for looks?

Hi Jack

Yes looks primarily. I am shallow! wink Also just had OEM wheels refurbed so want to keep them nice and have 2 other sets for different rubber. My car is polar silver and thinking the gold E88s will look great, but someone yesterday was raving about HRE. Not been on my radar before?

Cheers

They look exquisitely made. Unfortunatley I don't have any personal experience of them. Are they track proven? As in will they be able to take the a use of constantly hitting curbs?
Maybe Rennlist would be a good place to ask, with them being Americun wheels, y'all smile

Y'all have a good day now!

Almost as good as these! I think BBS are the ones to have, plus good resale, if required.

The first two are BBS LM
The third one are BBS E88

The LMs are a 2 piece rim whilst the E88 is a 3 piece rim.
I do not have experience of 3 pieces, but my understanding is that they are better for motorsport use (you can modify the rim width etc) and general spares if damaged, but tricky for the average punter if you have to take them apart (e.g. for refurb) as they can be difficult to seal again. Happy to be corrected

Hi

Yep that's my understanding. I believe the E88s are a toucher lighter than LMs (9.8kgs vs 10.8kg I've heard) but like you happy to be corrected. They are both very cool. Esp in gold... Want to get more cost and weight info on the HREs though first before pulling the trigger. It's either new wheel or full Cargraphics exhaust system. Decisions, decisions!

I am having the same debate for my 996.2 GT3, but have decided to go with a Kline exhaust instead. Think I will eventually choose LM's, because they are better suited for road use and hopefully will have aftersales support should I bend one. I think LM's look great in gold and will go very well with my Midnight paint colour.

I'm going OT on my own thread, but what made you pick the Kline exhaust over the other options?

Hi Simon

I've got a set of forged Cargraphic 3-piece wheels that I wouldn't mind moving on. They have red centres & polished outers and are the correct size/offset for your car.

PM / email me if interested.

Hi Simon

My car is used as a road car and I have been looking at my options to improve the noise level. Compared to my other half's 987 S, the GT3 is a little too quiet and it's the only area that the car lacks a little interaction. I started looking at the Gundo hack, but ideally I wanted to keep my OE mufflers standard and also I couldn't find a spare set on ebay to mod. I also have a relatively new set of cats and a limited budget so I started looking at changing just the mufflers.

I read quite a few reviews and asked a few of the guys on 911uk their thoughts and the Cargraphic, Tubi, Kline or After-hours seemed the way to go.
- After-hours - I didn't really want to ship from the US and pay all the import duty and quite an agricultural solution IMO.
- Cargraphic - less than forthcoming with information or detail about their parts and very expensive for what you get.
- Tubi - very little detail or info available for their 996 GT3 offering. Only really an option because I could get a discount through work, but seemed a risk.
- Kline - did not want to sell just the mufflers and recommend their exhaust a system including the cross pipe cat assembly. I would expect all the others to do the same but in the case of the Kline you can have the system for a small premium over the cost of the Cargraphic mufflers on their own.

This made me look a bit more at the Kline option. VFM seems very good, the reviews on the internet are good and they answered all of my technical questions fully and with a good level of information. From a noise perspective the opportunity to improve the sound quality with the crossover pipe as well as the noise level for a slightly increased cost to the others is great.

My only concerns that I have with Kline are the history of the company (Longlife, Powerflow, etc), but based on feedback from Cunno on 911uk who has a similar system on his 997 GT3, I am willing to give it a shot. They say that you get what you pay for, but Kline have assured me that they will provide support should I have any issues in the future and seem very keen to try and develop a foothold in the Porsche scene.

If you are interested then I can keep you updated on how I get on.

Apologies for the thread hijack and good luck with the wheel choice. Nick's offer sounds a good one.
