Morning guys,

I've a friend of mine here in work that has got himself a 996 C4 tiptronic that now requires a new exhaust. He's got a price from Porsche, which is pretty punchy to say the least, so is now looking at possibly an after-market jobbie.
Can anyone shed some light on this for us as to what to go for - cost VS return VS sound etc etc.

Cheers,
M3J.

I'm not too up on the various options as when I looked to change mine, I was specifically looking to get more sound, akin to the Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE) but without the price. I ended up having a lovely day out and heading over to see Gert in Belgium to get one of his Carnewal GT exhaust systems - http://www.carnewal.com/products/P96/p96195/Carnew...

Basically a standard set of silencers that are reworked internally to be a lot less restrictive and therefore become a lot more fruity aurally. Normally they sell them on an exchange basis, but when I arrived it turned out my silencers were shot to pieces so I had to pay a little more to get new ones.

I've been very happy with the exhaust ever since.

^^that seems like quite a good price.

The other option is a "Gundo Hack"

(Google for more links/info obviously)

Thanks for the link Skibum, I might do that myself when I put my 996 back on the road.

Good price and seemingly good service. How much - if I may ask - for a refurbed exhaust? I fear mine (left box) is beyond repair.
