Engine Bonnet release intermittent

Has anyone had problems with opening their 997 bonnet? Mine only works intermittently and I've got no idea why. I've checked the wire connector is pushed in correctly. When I pull the release lever, it doesn't make any noise like it's trying to open. I've found the standby cable release in case it gives up for good. Maybe I should just replace the whole lock.
