Hi,

Got back from hols and the car has set the 5 day central locking / alarm timer thingy - I opened the door with the key, but no alarm!!?? Tried the ignition, absolutely squat. The manual bonnet and boot releases do not work, as the central locking is on.

Its a 98 996, so it does not have the post in the fusebox to connect up an auxiliary supply. I can't see any release cable, and its parked in a place where its going to be a real pain to dismantle the wheel arch covers.

Can I hook up a 12V supply anywhere else which will allow me to at least get the bonnet open, so I can replace the battery? Before I go and buy a fag lighter charger, will that work? I know some cars have a diode in that supply so you cant backfeed the Battery through that way.

Thanks and hoping for a top tip!

I keep my 996t topped up through the cigarette lighter.

Plug a battery conditioner/charger into the cigarette lighter socket, leave it overnight and cross your fingers....
