Just picked up a 2003 996 C4S yesterday party

It appears to be lacking a couple of things though:
- What's the easiest/cheapest way to get an AUX in port installed?
- There aren't any cupholders (I understand these were an option??) How do people get around this?

The stereo is the optional Bose one. Doesn't have satnav or anything.

Don't be surprised when you stick a tenner of fuel in and it doesn't register.

..Have you got the PCM1..?
If so take it out, put it on a barrel at the end of the garden and give it 2 rounds from a 12 bore from 10 metres.., this will fix the first of your problems.

Now do a retro fit with a Kenwood/Apline unit with Bluetooth/Phone/Nav/Ipodery/3.5mm aux in/out.
The drinks holder is under the air vents on mine.. I will have to go and check, but it's defo got 1..

Post up a picture of what you've got in it now..?

Cupholders are standard on a facelift 996. At the top,of the horseshoe trim in the centre of the dash are the cupholders. Looks like a horizontal black strip, push one end and it springs open, pull it our furhher and a second cupholder is revealed.

Thanks, will look into this and similar devices. Don't really want to change the head unit for something with garish neon lights.

Dension Gateway module is a good way of getting ipod/aux/USB connectivity - as long as your head unit has a CD changer, or the facility to control one.
My Porsche is too old to have such a thing (964), but I fitted one to my BMW E61, and it works perfectly with a 16gb USB memory stick.
