996 PSE question

I can't hear any difference with the button on or off, is there supposed to be a big difference?
I've checked the brown cable in the engine compartment and it's still connected.
Also just did the diode cut and now there's no nerfing from 25-40mph
But the PSE button still doesn't seem to do anything...

There is a big difference between silent and loud.
The default position of the valves on the exhausts (no vacuum applied) is open = loud.
Only when you apply vacuum, the valves are pulled shut.
A frequently failing part is the electro valve.
Or, they stay closed all the time = No vacuum = loud
But I have seen cases where the electro valvee stays open all the time= silent
Vacuum leaks or a leaking actuator are other options.

You can definitely notice a difference in the tone with your foot down. Not sure how I'd describe the change as I didn't think it was that much louder. Seems more like the depth of the noise changes.
Interesting, that's kind of what I'm hearing as well, a difference in noise rather than the actual loudness.Maybe I need to listen to it from outside or test using a decibel meter!
