Pilot super sports front and PS2 rear?

My 996tt, I am thinking of buying the 225/40/18 92Y pilot super sports - not N rated for the fronts (same size as fitted) and 295/30/18 98Y PS2's rear. This should be no issue? As reference 134.30 euros delivered per front and 249.20 euros per rear.
I would never mix different pattern front and rear tyres, it can upset the handling balance of the car. seconded.
super sport has a different compound/attributes to the PS2. its newer and better in the dry. PS2 better in the wet and cold.
not ideal if wet and cold - rear would be softer than the front so you would be all over the shop?
if hot/pressing on - more rear grip than front.
your call I guess but I would not do it.

why make up such b
ks.
charming!
ks.oh only from personal experience chap. not a Porsche but an M3 CSL. it had PS2 fronts and Super Sports rear.
when wet and cold the PS2s were a better tyre and had more grip. the rubber was tackier/softer in the cold which indicated they are better in that lower temps. hence my comments.
I switched to super sports all round when I could.
so up yours!
Yes he is talking s
t. (prob means CUPS)
That why I left PH for 2 weeks, but had to post on such b
ks.
Last post , I am leaving again for another 2 weeks.
I will wean myself away slowly lol
I love PS2 btw ran them on a CSL myself and a GT3 and a Cayman infact had 7 or 8 sets of PS2's
had 3 sets of SS and they just work better in the cold/wet, in fact no contest.
ALso heat up much faster offering you better grip in the cold much faster than a PS2.

i know what the difference between cups and PS2 are for god sake. Cups are lethal in cold/wet. awesome when warm weather and they have warmed up. heat is the key for them
its from personal experience not some diagram
the PS2s were newer and had more tread on them so that help a lot.
if you are going to run different tyres on the same axle check age and tread depth as that can have a big impact too. same for both measures
a 4-5 year old tyre is way beyond its optimal over a 1-2 year old tyre. same with read
see you in 2 weeks then GT4 owner for another valuable contribution and more abuse I am sure.

you should have read the initial post as it didnt mention running different wheels on the same axle :wink:its from personal experience not some diagram

your also comparing M3 which is FR to a RR so the tyres will react differently.
You can also run different compounds on the same axle though its not recommended, just make sure the depths the same.
But we agree on the GT4) comment
Currently I have p zeros on the front and ps2's on the back. I couldn't find PSS for the rear. So I thought I would go for the complete set of ps2's. I have just had a set of wheels refurbed so these new tyres will go on the new set and I will sell on my current set. Not sure whether to spend the money on the current ones or sell as is, they are ok from a distance but flaky in the barrel - no kerbing.

So you have now changed to say a new PS2 with 6mm tread is better than a worn out SS in the wet.
that's great and prob quite correct lol
great back pedal.....
nope. just the way it was and how the tyres were. that's great and prob quite correct lol

OP asked about running different tyres FR and RR so voiced my opinion. its a no from me but personal choice.
OP has now got PS2s all round so a good choice I hope he gets on with them well.
