My 997 GTS went in for its first major service today. My very positive experiences of a Swedish OPC are perhaps not relevant to the forum, and I will not delve further into them.
However, an incredibly annoying rattle had been prominent on any bumpy stretch of motorway or fast road, and I mentioned this in passing when I dropped the car off. Apparently the chief tech was well aware of the problem, and diagnosed it as being related to the rear number plate housing, which was duly replaced.
I have read a lot of comments on interior rattles originating everywhere from the engine to Tempe seat belt tensioner, but this was new to me. The rattle is completely gone, the car sounds as tight as I imagined it did the day it left the factory. Thought this FYI might help someone.

Just got my new 991 gts today but 997 I had before was great but had rattles and replacing front drop links worked - used PCT in Coventry who diagnosed it straight away
Eh? He already said it was the number plate carrier and replacing it solved it?
