Battery Switch on 991 GT3 ?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
On the Official Porsche site is written about Battery Kill Switch.
"The Clubsport package comprises a roll cage bolted to the body behind the front seats, a six-point racing harness in red supplied ready to install on the driver’s side, a ready-to-install fire extinguisher with mounting bracket and preparation for battery master switch. This, and the front roll cage elements for race events, are available to purchase separately from the Porsche Motorsport department"
How it looks like and where to buy ? My dealer have no info about it (((
Thanks

Do the Clubsport cars not come with quite literally the wiring - i.e. they are ready to accept the rest of the hardware required to get it all working but this hardware isn't actually present.
You would need to buy the main relay amongst other things to get the system functioning if this was the case. You are also locked into the oem supplied parts if you want to use this wiring set up. Going third party will see you needing to cut into the wiring in the car to install. How badly this would be would depend on product selection and approach. Using a main relay system - as used by Porsche - would require more effort than using an old school switch. The latter would very much seem a tad agricultural on a car like a 991. It seems agricultural on old cars
One issue on street cars is that switching off kills everything. This means you loose your central locking, access to your boot if its closed, your alarm, all your radio codes etc etc. Sounds like a lot of fun.
One wonders how robust the various pieces of electronics fitted to modern cars like the 991 GT3 are when subjected to potential repeat disconnection in this manner. My only data point is my 360 CS which definitely used to encounter issues when subjected to having the battery turn off switch operated over time. The various ecus would encounter issues that were on occasion terminal but more often required dealer trips to recode data points and calibrations etc. I soon stopped using it and went with a battery tender approach instead.

thanks for replies )
i used a battery switch in my Maserati 3200gt in the trunk very useful when you are on a long trip and the car is waiting in the garage. Keep the battery in full life. Thats why i think to make such thing also with the Porsche. I am not going to kill everything while the engine is running only when the engine is off.
Also my car sometimes is staying in House parking where there is no electricity to use a recharger for battery. Thats why also thought about kill switch
