thanks for the tip - might try thatcertainly preferable to spending $725 plus import duty and VAT on some titanium nuts, although they would shave vital nanoseconds off my trips to Waitrose

Yep those are the ones. A tin of zinc galvanising spray. Worked for me. If it's a weekend car - take one nut off each wheel - clean and lightly sand, wipe down with thinners or such like. Get a nice amazon cardboard box and insert threaded part into box leaving the nut outside of the box. Paint - have a coffee, paint again have your dinner paint again. Leave all night and day until the next evening then insert back into the wheel and start again... 2 years with mine and they are still good.
