So will the base 991.2 be the pick of the new turbo engines?
Discussion
Given the rinsing the 718 S engine is getting by the press despite its variable vane turbo and the fact that the 991.2 C2S is still quite laggy from my experience, is the base C2 likely to have the least worst engine? 3 litres like the C2S but only boosted to 370bhp rather than 420.
Thoughts?

From what i've read and watched, there has been a few complaints about the Carrera not feeling ilke a 911 to drive, yet the S being much better.
I think we're beyond the point of a modern 911 being an out-and-out driver's car. It is now a great, every day car. I'd therefore go for the one that emphasises it's all-round strengths. So for me, pricing aside, i'd go for the S because it simply better equipped. I don't buy into a 991.2 being a 'purer' car; we're well beyond that now.

Harry Metcalfe postulated that in his recent Harry's Garage vid on the 991.2. Makes sense! Thoughts?
Good points. I'm just musing as to our current state of affairs. As you say, would much rather a 991.1 GTS.
Anyway, on a more cheerful note, I think I'm gonna put my money where my mouth is and buy my mate's 996.1 (no ambers, sorry
) in a few weeks to do a bit of R-ification on it following in the steps of CLR on here. Just need to get our house move sorted to re-establish toy cash flow!

I took the 991.2 S out for a days test drive last week. Great car but really I though the engine lacked any kind of character and was quiet even with the sport exhaust. Bought a 991 GTS on Monday.
I drove the 991.2 S and the 981 S with the x73 chassis at the Porsche Experinence Centre. The 991 WA certainly rapid, but like you said it seemed to lack something. No crescendo or 'reward' for climbing up the rev range. I'm sure it would make for a fantastic, rapid, continental cruiser but in all honesty I enjoyed the 981 more.Fokker said:
Which one did you buy Mark?
The impossible to resist one of course
Here you go....
