I've bought a 991 GT3 RS but looking to make a few changes.
Has anybody carried out the following upgrades to a 991 that where not ordered from the factory.

- Change out front headlights to Black LED light units.
- Add cruise control
- Add DAB radio

I'm the second owner of the car so never had the luxury of choosing the spec which would have been alot easier from factory!
Any help or lessons appreciated.

You can get the black LED lights from Porsche Tequipment - £2888, but only if you already have the clear ones fitted I think.
I didn't spec them as I actually prefer the look of the Xenons.

Cruise is £532 from Tequipment, but not sure if that's the fitted price.

Not sure about DAB, it's not mentioned in Tequipment.

Great thanks. I noticed Suncoast listed them in the USA also but said you could only fit the LED's if car had them before Code 602?
Does anybody know why? Wiring issue or Modules etc?

The Cruise control will get fitted for sure - Looks a plug and play deal plus bit of re-program.

Removal of the cage next week will be fun :-)
The car is in 2D8 Green same as my 2007 997.1 GT3 RS but the cage is black. I want to paint it Green also. Think it stands out a bit better in the body colour....
But not sure I will feel the same when try and remove!!

FWIW , I think the contrast of the cage in black works better than body colour - but that's just MHO .The re painting of the cage would worry me (possibly unnecessarily) It could be risky - potential damage to internals / paintwork on removal and re fit - then will it rattle afterwards - it may be fine but I wouldn't risk it .
Either way congratulations and I hope you enjoy the car - they are awesome things smile

Good post.

Alternative is to vinyl wrap the cage.

Ok looks like I'm sorted on the lights.
Cruise can be done at dealer.
DAB seems a waste of time - Can stream through phone if needed.

Wrapping might be a good option, I guess I'm just old fashioned like to paint...

Will take some pictures showing cage coming out

Thanks to all

Cage had to come out of my 997 GT2, not to re-paint but seatbelt change..
Never again. A complete nightmare of a job taking the OPC some 2 weeks to finally sort. In fairness they know I am super critical and after some sight marks on painted surface (unbolting to remove) they decided to repaint cage which proved harder than one might think re factory finish.. Also I reckon the point previously made regarding future rattles is valid. Mine afterwards was always creaking and pinging - Leave well alone I say!
