So I walked into OPC Leeds this morning and ??

There in the corner was ....

This Light Yellow 2.7RS --- a RHD lightweight with less than 1000Kms on the clock ...

And incredibly, it's been completely fettled by Porsche with new parts throughout and an original 2 year new warranty ....

OMG ... why was I so generous with the Kids ???

A rare beast indeed. Makes the GT3 look menacing though.

Stunning.
I'm looking for a 73RS at the moment, though not a LW

I was also in the showroom as I was dropping my turbo off for a service, I had my daughter so I couldn't have much of a nosey. I don't even see that car, the gta rs in a shade of purple looked nice and refreshing as should a bold colour. They must easily of had a couple of million quids worth of stock living around.

I know I am in the minority but I just don't get the sex wee like other people do when it comes to old pork. Just on looks alone it'd be the 991. I'll get my coat...

Try driving one. Much better than modern stuff IMO

Is that up for sale or is just one they borrowed (which they do) from Porsche?

They had an old 356 parked there about a month ago which was from Porsche.

Not sure Lightweights had sunroofs. Someone needs to sort that ride height out unless they fitted Cayenne running gear

I think you should get your coat. This is Porsche's history and what set the '911' apart. I had a spirited drive in a lwt a few years ago and, yes, there's a distinct 'vintage' feel, but so much more fun at legal speeds than the big, heavy, modern, automated stuff.

Not sure about values in the current silly season. Aren't Tourings up to £500k and Lwts a bit more? Still a better investment than high premium modern RSs.

That's not a Lightweight. That's a Touring.

I'd like the best of both worlds, which you have?. How many 'modern' cars against 'classics' do you own?

They look much better than they drive IMO. Non the less exceptionally beautiful cars and I'd have a garage full of both if I could....

I'm sure the vast majority would not rate it anywhere close to the modern stuff. Massive beard territory, brought to the general public's attention by the last 15yrs exploding values!

Well you can look at my garage to answer the question about moderns vs classics that I own.

And my comment was clearly stated as my opinion - as was yours so that's cool each to their own.

I've hardly driven my 991RS recently but absolutely loved driving the two 73RS's last weekend. You have to think about braking and cornering and managing slides of front and rear. Even changing gear is an effort rewarded by tactile joy. IMO.

Very impressive, what a great collection. Cars 7 through to 12 float my boat with a good mix of modern/classic, the LP being a car I'd love to own one day.

Amen. Re 72 RS bar the brakes I can't believe how modern a car that was made 44 years ago feels. First time I red lined one in 3rd 4th and 5th and then got on the stoppers thought I had no brakes lol and wet myself! The Holy Grail IMO.

You'd love a 2.7 RS. The way the engine sings inertia free round that rev counter and the noise towards red line is just magnificent. Just based objectively on the car not values etc. If I could choose one car regardless of cost I'd have an RS and upgrade the brakes. The later air-cooled feel fat and stodgy in comparison wink

On a different note it really is amazing how you can buy the Porsche DNA in an early Boxster for peanuts. Fine car.

Decent RS Touring is half the touted 1m price based on what I'm finding as I look for one.
