I think that the sneak pictures we are seeing are not a GT2 but the GT3RS gen 2. Porsche are brilliant at marketing and know they have to come up with something to tackle the 488, 650S cars. Could we end up with a GT3RS twin turbo? There is definetly a new mid engined V8 car on its way; Porsche have just opened a new engine facility producing V8 petrol and diesel engines. 200 engines a day are planned which show their commitment to that formula.
For sheer value there is nothing on the current market to touch a 991GT3RS at its price level! Roll on Porsche with whatever is coming next and can I have one please.

Just received my copy of Car Magazine and there are details on the 2017 GT2RS. I know it's probably pure speculation but I thought I would share with the PH massive...
Minimum 630 bhp and 2 wheel drive. Lots of aero including front winglets and huge rear wing.
Both pdk and manual will be available...0-62 < 3 seconds.
If it's all true it should make for a very interesting ride!

Didn't some magazines manage to launch the 991.1 GT3 in 2.9s ?

I wouldn't have thought the new R box would be beefy enough to handle the 7XXNM which the new GT2 will doubtlessly produce over a very wide range. The 993/6 and 7 GT2s all used the same (similar) tried and tested manual - I can't see Porsche developing a new transmission just for this relatively small production run. I am sure the 991GT2 will be PDK only, Porsche have really nailed the turbo/PDK interaction and it is the only way it can keep its performance numbers ahead of the competition. Minimum 630 bhp and 2 wheel drive. Lots of aero including front winglets and huge rear wing.

The 675 is quoted as being <3 seconds as well, no need to get to the P1. F12tdf as well. It's probably tyre limited for rwd cars at 3 seconds or just under these days.Edited by isaldiri on Saturday 14th January 17:32

Amazing if correct. I've seen P1, 918, La F, 650S launch hard on many times. To my eye only the 918 was running sub 3 secs over consecutive launches. The others all looked relatively tardy off the line but it was at Brunters so not the best tarmac
I would agree with this, not many cars can hook up a true 0-60 in under 3.0. These are the best runs from a private test at V-Max. Track and condition's perfect. 2 pro drivers in Lafa and P1 also. Times via Race Logic......
