My 991C2S is approaching it's 3rd birthday. Great to drive, but more problems than any new car I've owned in almost 40 years of driving:

- air-conditioning sensor failure
- engine intermittently cutting out at low revs (still unresolved)
- squeak from sunroof
- headlamp failure...while driving at night
- brake disc issues caused by a stone wedging between the twin discs; a known fault, but in a car with this pedigree surely this should not happen?
- intermittent software issues sometimes prevening bluetooth connectivity to an iphone music source
- brakes sticking on when the car is parked in the sun (apparently another known fault, this time with the bushes in the brake pedal assembly)

Is it just my car, or do other 991 owners have similar experiences?

These cars are great to drive but I also feel that they might have been put together by retired british leyland ex pats living in germany,I sold mine this week
although not a 991 but 997 and just felt it was a ticking time bomb, although it drove perfectly silly things where just too expensive and in the end I got fed up with using it in fear that it would grenade itself. I now sleep at night in the knowledge that a piece of metal wont bankrupt me if it develops a strange noise or the dash comes to light before xmas. I wont be buying another,Ive ticked that box ,Good luck with yours.

Hi Ive been driving my 991 C2 for about 2 years. I had one sensor failure, fixed under warranty otherwise no problems, other than paint on the front bumper lifting after a jet wash! Great car.

I had one of the first 991 CS with PDK in 2012.
Had a few issues.
The Alarm shutting the car down. Had to have it put on low loader and taken back to OPC.
The sunroof makes a horrendous noise when opening and closing in the heat. Been back three times to OPC and covered mech in grease which went every where. Still makes the same horrendous noise today. Living with it. Get the piss taken by my friends when they hear it......
Iphone 6S works most of the time from the USB in the glove compartment. Sometimes just will not connect.
No other issues.
Drives very well, love the sound in sport and sport + modes. Just love taking it out for a run. Still excites me.
Have driven the 991.2 around PEC and on loan for a few days. Don't like it. Power delivery ( to smooth, no drama ) and lack of exhaust noise are the main dislikes. I could go on. Hopefully the next gen car will be better.

In relation to cutting out at low revs, surely the crank sensor?

I had this on my 996, (and also going back in time on a BMW 330i and a 156 Alfa)

The sensor starts to fail, and when the engine is hot the sensor occassionally stops giving a good signal that the engine is still turning over, and the fuel/spark stops as expected.

A cheap fix, or at least worth asking about?

Thanks LotusAlfaV6bloke, what you've described is very consistent with the symptoms I've seen.
