I am peed off.

Time was, when cars were serviced annually, I used to have my Porsches MOTed and serviced once a year. Nice and easy.

Then Porsches moved to two years service intervals, so it was MOT and warranty annually, service every two.

But now the wheels have fallen off.

My current car (7GTS) was made in March, but for some reason the service intervals have fallen out of sync. I got a service warning in December and Porsche insisted that it must be serviced within 28 days to retain the warranty.

I agreed a price for service, but whilst it was in they said "your brake fluid needs doing in 21 days. It's £200, shall we do it? I agreed.

I've just had a call to say that the following work needs doing:

Drive belt replacement
Air filter replacement
PDK clutch oil replacement
Total £418.39inc

Now, lovely though the coffee is at my local OPC, I'd prefer not to visit as often as currently it would appear is necessary. Surely it should be possible to do pretty much everything at the same time? I am affeared that when I've had that lot done they'll be calling to say the door catches are due for adjustment in a fortnight.

Also, can anyone comment upon whether that price is reasonable please?

Wow, I have exactly the same issue (I am anticipating) with my 7GTS that I bought from OPC last month.

8/6/11 New Car Delivery
16/4/13 Intermediate Service carried out 16400 miles (2 months early)
5/1/16 Major Service carried out 25090 miles (7 months late)

Therefore, to maintain the correct scheduling (the earlier of 6 years or 60000 miles) by 8th June 2017 I need to carry out:
Drive Belt Change
Intermediate Service
Change Clutch Oil
Air Cleaner: Replace Filter Element
Brake Fluid

I wrote to the OPC that I bought from about this and they have said that I should get it all done in Jan 2018 and it would not affect their valuation of the car. I am sceptical, there are several items that need changing because of the 6 year anniversary (drive belt, clutch oil). I was thinking to get the 6 year items done in June and the service in Jan (2 years after the last).

If it was me I'd get the whole lot done in June and get it all back in sync...

If he has warranty from Porsche it would be voided by not servicing on time.

13m - that seems to be a typical OPC tactic in servicing i'm afraid and speaking as an independent garage owner its very naughty!

Dealers will know that a 6 year service on a 997.2 GTS PDK includes brake fluid change (due every 2 years) and should also include drive-belt replacement and PDK oil change as both of these are due at 6 years. Therefore why were you not given a fully inclusive price when you booked your car in for its 6 year service???

I avoided a similar story on my GTS with its 4 year service as the OPC originally gave me a price and I queried if that was the total price to which they said YES. I then asked does that include the brake fluid change? And they said NO, that's extra! Does that include the spark plug change? NO, that's extra too! So I spoke to the DP and explained that if their service advisors weren't capable of understanding the correct service requirements they shouldn't be employed in that position, either that or is the OPC's policy confusion pricing and hitting the owners with increases once the car was on the ramp? That hit a nerve and they quickly came back with a fully inclusive price including some discount.

This tactic is really naughty and as an independent garage we hear of it all the time with lots of manufacturers but I would expect better from Porsche. Being Trading Standards approved all of our workshop estimates are fully inclusive of all parts, labour and VAT and we pride ourselves on not introducing extra's on the day. Its a shame that Porsche dealers don't do the same.

The service I had was about £400 - the "small" service apparently. Which sounds a bit cheap if they are doing a belt and brake fluid, doesn't it?

That was knackered by the second service though wasn't it? I'd be looking at it going forwards and pull it all back in line.

If Porsche won't offer the extended warranty due to the late second service nothing can be done about that now.

They do seem to make a habit of quoting the major/minor service cost, sometimes mentioning brake fluid, but then drive belt, air filter etc come up later. I usually expect a grand for a small service and double that for a big one. Non-service fixes often add £500-1000 depending how the car is.

Just had my 7GTS serviced at a local OPC, had everything that was due on a 6yr service, pdk fluids, drive belts etc. needed some new bolts on the exhaust which had corroded, they charged £200 !! Got them to discount the total by 10% but the bill still came in at £1300

But at 6 years the 997.2 GTS service should include oil, filter, air filters, brake fluid change, PDK clutch fluid change & drive-belt change. So you should never have been quoted on anything other than this correct 6-year service.
For £400 I would suggest they've done nothing more than an oil service which is not the correct service to carry out at 6 years!

I think brake fluid at least with some manufacturers is only actually 'recommended' at certain time intervals, so isn't always included in the initial price.

Spoke too soon, my car just came up with a red "Transmission Emergency Run" and "Transmission Temo Too High" and I lost the gearbox. Flatbedded to Porsche Hatfield and a taxi home...

For me, looking after the components means they will last much longer, so my Porsche will get done annually regardless. Where can you go to check what typical things need looking after? Gearbox oil, brake fluid, fuel filter, oil, pads and so on?
Look in the Service Book; it's all listed there. Minor Maintenance 20k / Maintenance 40k and Additional Maintenance based on time / miles.

Sure, I am just surprised that an air filter comes under additional maintenance and also that a pragmatic approach isn't adopted with regard to timing. It's a time-consuming affair visiting the OPC and it gets on my thrupennies. I'd rather only see them annually at most.

Our Panamera was in recently for a service. Went to collect to find an extra £50 or so on the invoice. Queried it, was told it was for a brake fluid change. Wonder why you have been charged £200?
