When I press the Sport button on my 997.2 Carrera S:

1) Everything is a bit sharper
2) PDK doesn't use 7 unless in cruise mode
3) Car stays in lower gear a bit longer

but I need more detail please ... what precisely happens when Sport mode is activated ? ... and further more ... what precisely happens when Super Sport mode is activated ?

I'm fairly sure it changes the throttle map as well, I'm not sure to what extent but to get wot the pedal won't need to go all the way.

Info here: http://www.porscheownersmanuals.com/2011-911-carre...

Sport+ disables 7th & enables launch control.

Check your manual if you MY is earlier than 2009-112 as link above is for that 997

My PASM goes into Sport (ie firm) when I press the Sport button, and you get a different/more responsive engine map, better throttle response and shorter gear changes, and (if you're not in manual) the 'box will change down earlier.

In Sport mode PSM also allows you to have a bit more fun....doesn't intervene until the car has got a bit more about of shape! From what an instructor at PEC said it kicks in at 12 deg instead of the normal 7 deg.

Obviously also firms up the dampers.

I drive my manual 997 with Sport mode on and the dampers set to normal. Find the throttle response in Sport mode makes Heel and Toe that little bit easier.

suspension goes into bone-break mode as well... They corrected that on the 991, Sport mode leaves the suspension alone these days...
