Ok, so I have a black 997.1 C2S with the 'lobster claw' alloys. The wheels have been refurbed before by somone and are flaking and so I'm thinking of getting them redone.

Only i seem to have the opportunity to change the look of the car a little, I like the look of the 997 CSR that RPM built - only cant afford the wheels, I thought about getting the lobster claws done in a dark bronze colour as a cheaper alternative.

Has anyone tried this? Any ideas if it looks ok? My car looks like this one (not mine but same colours)

Anyone know how to change the wheel colour in an image?

Thanks for your thoughts

'Weiss gold' wheels look great on a black Porsche, IMO.

I would personally go with basalt black with a silver lip as was actually a factory option and looks very cool with the silver splitting up the colours so not to black.

...... or buy a set of Fuchs and use your original tyres?!

FarQue - that does look nice smile different without shouting too loud (are those the standard 997.2 19" Porsche Carrera S II wheel ?)

G7jhp - agree - hence the question - wibble!!!! that is a lovely car

Kev.RS - I really don't like black wheels - especially on a black car. I did think about graphite with a silver rim as an alternative (I think this was a factory option as well) - I put graphite stripes on it for the trip to LeMans and thought it looked nice and they would match.

P.S I know it's driving on the door handles! Don't know how to rotate it !

I'm still intrigued as to what bronze lobster claws would look like though smile

Platinum Satin (a Porsche colour) wheels (£400ish) with yellow calipers (£ ???)would look good on a black car.

Thanks. The car came to me on o.e. Lobster Claws which although acceptable, aren't the most attractive wheel. These 'gen II' wheels came up at a friendly price (in silver) and did a year on the car in that colour.

Late last year I was ready for a change of 'look' and had them powder-coated gold. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's my car and I like it!

Strongly recommend this, which looks outstanding in my opinion, and has the side benefit of possibly being cheaper than the other more bling options discussed here.

The trouble with black is you lose the detail of the wheel and on a black car it all looks very black, very gangster/ drug dealer.

Proper Fuchs do look great, although they are expensive.

Ok, so I got the wheels done - they look good. I went with Anthracite centres with Porsche silver rims smile

What do people do about the wheelnuts ? I bought some covers and had them painted to match the centres -but what about the locking wheelnuts ???
any thoughts

Nice job on the wheels, I was about to comment to suggest going for a lighter colour but from the pictures they suit it well. For the wheel bolts you could jack one side of the car up, remove the bolts and put them in a cardboard box (thread through the cardboard) so you have the head upwards and spray them with your colour choice. I'd personally loose the covers you have.

I will admit that the grey is darker than I intended it to be. Can’t afford to change it now though and it looks ok (not black - I don’t like that on a black car).

I know I can paint the wheelnuts, they will rust again though. I might try painting the locking nut. The covers only cost me £30 inc painting so not really a problem and I thought they might last longer than paint. Might look at stainless bolts (or some other material) although that leaves the locking one unsolved.

Ho hum. 1st world problems I guess smile

Hi All,

What would the black Fusch wheels cost, typically?
