Moving into the 911 Fold
Discussion
So after many years of BMW's and more recently a 7 month stint in a Cayman GTS, I've just ordered a "new to me" 991.1 GTS.
Had the Cayman since January and as a weekend car it would have been great, but as daily drive (albeit only a handful of miles each day) it didnt work for me.
I've got form for changing cars too quickly (oh M6 how I still miss you), did have the best intentions of keeping this car for a number of years and did initially really like the car but the mix of the X73 suspension and the less than perfect roads near where I live made me like it less and less...to the point that I was finding excuses not to drive it.
I tried to console myself with thoughts of buying a daily run about and leaving the Cayman garaged for weekend fun but I knew it would languish unused and I don't think that is how cars should be owned.
Anyway, looked at ordering a new 991.2 but the wait for 6-9 months wouldn't address my immediate first world problems so plumped for a Carmine red 991.1 GTS. Spec is about right (for now) and hopefully pick it up on 16th of this month...going to be a long week or so

Carmine on the 991 GTS is the dogs danglies. If it hasn't got a duck tail you know you have to....

I do like the duck tail and having read almost the entire '991 GTS must haves' thread, the 991 on the first page shows it off well..I think its on my options list Carmine on the 991 GTS is the dogs danglies. If it hasn't got a duck tail you know you have to....

Deposit paid today. My local dealer in Wolverhampton and the selling dealer are part of the same group so local is moving the car down here tomorrow and I have the final option to accept on Friday...although deposit paid to ensure it is mine and unless its missing an engine / wing / wheel etc. then I cant see myself backing out.
The spec as lifted from the dealers website:
20-inch 911 Turbo S wheels, painted in Black
BOSE® Surround Sound System
Carmine Red instrument dials
Centre console trim Carbon
Electric slide/tilt glass sunroof
Fire extinguisher
Floor mats
Fuel filler cap with Aluminium look finish

Light design package
Mobile phone preparation
ParkAssist (front and rear)
Passenger footwell storage net
Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
Power steering Plus
Privacy glass (rear side windows and rear window)
Seat heating
Side skirts painted
Smoking package
Not sure what the original owner was worried about when ticking the fire extinguisher box but each to their own.
