I have no chance of getting a GT3 as I'm too far down the list, I didn't even try to order one until the Touring was announced so that's understandable. But they said I'd have a better shot at at securing a GT4 and I'm tempted as it's a car I could enjoy for a couple of years, might position me better for a 992 GT3 order too.

I know the 981 GT4 is a great car and it has held its value well but I have a couple of concerns, the 718 GT4 is rumoured to be a turbo, there's also talk of a PDK version and of a GT4 RS that could overshadow it. Is the next generation GT4 as tempting a prospect as the last one? Any thoughts would be welcome.

Get your name down, if you are offered one and don’t fancy it, pass the invitation in exchange for the next shiny bauble.

All of Porsche's GT cars are amazing. It's a no brainer.

The next gt4 is highly unlikely to be a turbo and it’s also highly likely to be a manual as they might as well use that investment which has already been made.

With regards to concern over the gt4 RS if it does come appear to be purely financially based. Forget all this and just buy and enjoy the car if you can get an allocation.

it's more than likely to be a turbo with a PDK option than not imo.

By extensive analytical data i'm pretty confident the new 781 GT4/Spyder will be either Turbo or NASP..The transmission will either be PDK or manual imo confusedhehe

Best buy a used GT4 as there isn't a new one arriving any time soon. The next special Cayman will be turbo and badged as an R so as not to dilute the GT brand....but it will be quicker round the Nurbergthing than the old GT4. I am reliably informed of all this by the daughter of Fokker's masseuse. biggrin

I'd be buying a used one personally. People seem to be putting great store in the recent article in Autocar saying it will be NASP but their record isn't great on this (991.2 GTS was going to be NASP according to them).

IF the 718 GT4 is NASP the only engine Porsche currently manufacture is that in the GT3 so presumably that engine will be used in detuned form and the car will be at a different price point to the current car (much more expensive engine than the one in the current car)....which in my mind will shore up values of the current car.

IF the 718 GT4 uses a turbocharged engine I can only see that being good for values of the current NASP car.

And then if the new car is PDK that's also good news for the current car.

In my mind it's a win/win!
