991.1 GT3 questions
Discussion
Hi all. I’m considering getting a lightly used 991.1 GT3 club sport with lift and PCCBs. I’ve seen a couple around. Both with two years warranty.
I have a few questions from the experts on here:
1. The tyres on one need changing. Is there any recommendation between the Dunlop Sport Maxxs and the Michelin pilot sport cups 2. Or would you recommend normal road tyres?
2. Are there any “must haves” with regards spec?
3. Is VTS standard on the 991s?
Thanks in advance. Hopefully this isn’t a crazy time to buy with the .2 just coming on stream....?
Cheers

2: there is a bum for every seat, every one will tell you what they like, buy what you want.
3: no idea
4: they look expensive to me, esp with talks of the gen 2 not fetching big overs, but no one knows future prices, so again spend what you feel is right, no one else knows.
, and def don’t take advice off forums on a £110k purchase.
All UK 991 GT3s had Mich Pilot Cup 2s fitted as standard. It appears some gen 2s may have Dunlops but the new Mich Cup Tyres will be fitted to the majority.
I have Dunlops Maxx cups on the GT4 and Mich on the 991 GT3. Both Tyres are fine but overall the Mich are probably best for the GT3, harder wearing but the D's are better slightly in the wet.
If you for non cup Tyres to the GT3 you could well invalidate the insurance.
VTS tracker was standard fit on all 991.1 GT3s although the additional subscription fees are expensive. The security offered is highly questionable imo although some insurers insist on it many rightly do not.
Spec wise ceramic cars get c £3500 premium, lift is required, leather is very desirable together with bucket seated cars and pcm is essential. Clubsport cars get the best premiums and some pts colours.
Lots been written on engine issues basically early 63 plate cars had dealer swap engines post May 14 cars new factory fit engines with resultant premiums. Last cars 15 plate.
Finally a cast iron warranty is a must.
Great cars but spec is crucial.
Prob a good time to buy with winter weather and 991.2 appearing pricing up to £200k could result in firming of gen 1s prices of correct spec condition and mileage.

I'm pretty sure you can't, but I'm happy to be educated. As far as insurance goes, as long as it's the correct size and load rating, with an E mark, you're fine.
You could put the cheapest chinese ditch finders on a GT3 and be fine!
I think my car has the perfect spec:
Clubsport
Aluminium & Alcantara interior
PCCB
Lift
DAB + Sound Plus (goes a bit louder!)
Chrono plus
LED Headlights
PDLS+
Telephone module
2 x 6 point harness
VTS std
Ask what engine revision it's on;
G is the latest & greatest
(you can tell if you look at the VIN sticker when you open the drivers door, on the A pillar)
should say Engine Ma1075 then the rev & number of engine.
G has the DLC lifter / finger issue solved.
talk of 10 year engine warranty; not confirmed in UK yet, but USA owners have been informed.
Just had a new set of Cup2s fitter to mine
Cup2s & Dunlops were the only N rated approved I believe.
Trofeo R supposed to be the dogs danglies, but not N rated, and not so good in the wet

Did your previous engine, be it a E or F, blow?. I take it it did. Mines the F, still running smooth, I really did baby her during running in..
The F engine threw a warning light @ the Oulton Park RS day;
'reduced power' warning, but spoke to OPC who said OK to drive home.
No idea at this stage what the problem was.
Week or so later of diagnosis I got 'the call' from the OPC
"Sir, you need a new engine; we've ordered one from PAG, will be here in a week or so, we expect you can have your car back in two weeks time."
And so I did.
they stated it was the DLC related problem.
took a while to ship over, but not long to replace.
in the meantime they leant me a new 991
Maybe placebo effect, but the new engine feels stronger in general, right through the rev range
new VIN stickers too, and notified DVLA (new engine number)

Anyone know this car?
I was just admiring this beauty, guessing there can’t be many in this spec and it might refer to this thread.
Cheers

The attached may be helpful although I understand Model Year and engine version is not necessarily one to one as it has been suggested F and G engines were introduced mid-model year.G is the latest & greatest
