I'm not sure why the GT3 TT would have less power than the 911 Turbo S if it has the same TT 3.8ltr flat six?

And I guess it means the GT3 becomes the GT2...

The term “Turbo” in the 911 range then becomes meaningless as does GT2. The entire range will be Turbo.

Sad that even for niche models like the GT3/RS it's impossible to keep N/A engines. What has the world come to...

The amount of gloating by (mainly) 991.2gt3 owners that the next gen gt3 is possibly going to be turbo is quite entertaining.

Filling gaps in the torque delivery of Turbo with Hybrid must be the way forward.

But it does add a lot of complexity which is counter intuitive to the RS ethos ... less is more.

Just read this on a similar thread on Rennlist...sound credible but I have no clu about this stuff. Does the below make sense/sound credible to anyone?

.2 RS will be NA. Moving forward it will be very difficult. In September 2019, all cars will have to undergo Real Driving Emissions (RDE) tests. That will be game over for normally aspirated cars. Our only hope will be a hybrid NA engine. Huracan, Aventador, R8, 812, GT3, GT3RS will be the last of their kind.

RDE step 1 – applies to new type approvals from 1 September 2017 and to all new registrations from 1 September 2019.
For RDE1 a NOx conformity factor of 2.1 will apply meaning that NOx emissions in the RDE1 test can be up to 2.1 times the Euro 6 laboratory limit of 80mg/km.
Cars type approved during this period will be described as meeting Euro 6d-temp.
RDE step 2 – applies to new type approvals from 1 January 2020 and to all new registrations from 1 January 2021.
For RDE2 the NOx conformity factor is 1.0 but with an error margin of 0.5 meaning that NOx emissions in the RDE2 test can be up to 1.5 times the Euro 6 laboratory limit of 80mg/km.
Cars type approved during this period will be described as meeting Euro 6d.
Unless the 992 GT3 is released and produced before Jan 2021, normally aspirated engines will for sure be gone.

September 2018 992 introduced.
Spring 2019 992's deliveries. c2, c2s, c4, c4s
Septmber 2019 Turbos introduced
March 2020 GTS models intorduced
September 2020 GT3 introduced
GT3 production starts 2021 - Won't meet the deadline.

Anyone who has just ordered or taken delivery of a 991.2 GT3 will be pleased as punch I imagine.

Until the specials show up. Remember the 911R was the last manual tranny?? Yeah, right

There will be run out models...I had a 3.8 - RS thought it was the last Mezger

Then the 4.0 showed up.

I don't think it's gloating (much) at all....pleased....well.....in the short term maybe in the long term definitely not.....I think it's more of a sad lament for the fact that all my prospective future purchases of 911 GT cars will be forced induction......like someone said.....what has the world come to

It'll be faster, better handling, better braked blah blah blah, I very much doubt they'll be gloating that long.

I’m sure this will have been posted before, but there’s no guarantees yet on what the next gt3 will be

Not an investor and will hang onto both of them indefinitely- I now regret selling the 7.2 RS but there was a space problem. No big deal, I drove the wheels off itsmile. I sell a car so infrequently that depreciation is not big deal...garage has a 2003,2005,2x2008 2012,2015 and 2018; Call me sentimentalsmile

Since when? 996 msybe.
997 brought in pasm
991 pdk and rwd
I would hardly call the 991.2 gt3 a simple car

Hybrid is not the future its a stop gap. If there is a gt3 in 12y it will likely be full electric.

Turbo vs na will seem secondary to does it burn stuff up
