What car to take to south of France

What car would you guys take on a road trip to the south of France if you had a choice
997.1 GT3 or 991 Turbo S

Unless you’re going via the Nurburgring and all the big Alpine passes I’d be tak8ng the Turbo S.

Whichever route you’re taking, I think I’d take the the 991 Turbo S

Done it twice in 991 turbo S, nothing will touch it on the twisty's, comfy and economical on the motorway, will be trying the same trip in a GT3 this year.

I‘d take the manual car (if I owned one) unless the trip is purely go down on motorway and go back home again. Any time enjoying the country roads in the area, the manual would win for me

If you’re going the quickest way down, maybe the Turbo S. Otherwise the GT3 is more entertaining and there are some great roads on the way there. Did it in a GT3 a few years back and it was awesome.

Turbo S, its more of a road car and you will be spending some time in it on a variety of roads.
I recently took my 997.2 S down to Corsica via France and Italy which included twistys and motorways - I was glad of its ability to eat up the miles in comfort without leaving me feeling tired after 8hr of driving. Then when it was in Corsica I appreciated its ability to eat up the corners.

While the motorways were as smooth as a pool table, some of the back roads were bumpy, so the GT3 whilst great on a track could be a little tiring for thrashing about on the roads. Also its lower isn't it ? There were some interesting road bumps to contend with in some of the towns.

Yes, I know the numbers are very 'Porsche' but the roads are magnificent!

Also, check out the roads section of this forum, there are a few gems in there.

This is all based on the assumption you are going to the South of France for a drive and not just to get there. I know if I had the choice and I was on my own then it would be the GT3....if I was taking my wife along too then it would be the turbo as its quieter and more relaxing.

Do remember speed limits on D roads have been reduced to 80kph I believe.

Was looking at changing the GT3 for a 991 Turbo S, but everytime I drive the GT3 I know I will miss it. lol

Coincidentally me and the Mrs are off to Eze between Monaco and Nice on the 17th May!
Won’t be taking the GT3 as sold her today!!!!!!
Looking at a 997 Turbo manual tomorrow so it’ll be either that or the Boxster S for the trip....
Will be going to Le Mans in June in the Turbo so may take the Boxster for roof down action in the Côte D’Azur😎

Bought the Turbo today........ fantastic drive home.... you should consider one 😎
Not the event that the GT3 was but I think quicker in the real world (2.5 hours, traffic etc) and very comfortable with the heated seats and being able to hear the stereo 😆
