Does PTS add desirability or value?
Discussion
Totally depends on the colour and model...on GT Porsche's it almost definitely does add value (and quite a lot!)...on other 911's probably does add some value but nowhere near as much.. On cars like Macan's it's very colour dependent and I am not sure it does add any value...there are quite a few Macan's in colours like Riviera Blue around which don't seem to sell quickly...I reckon it probably decreases the cars value unless you find "THE" buyer. Although I recently saw a Macan in Sport Classic Grey which looked fantastic and would appeal to a lot of people and I reckon would add value.
At the end of the day 90% of car buyers are very conservative with the colour of car they want to drive with showrooms dominated by white, silver, grey and black.
I wouldn't order PTS unless it's a colour that you really like. We ordered a Ruby Star Boxster for Mrs Cheib last year which I don't think adds any value at all but Mrs Cheib loves and has generally got positive comments but clearly some people will think it's absolutely minging! So if/when we ever come to sell we will have alienated a large part of the car buying public but we might get to sell it quicker just because someone wants a car that's relatively unique.

most choose odd PTS colours so it could be impossible to sell
I switched mine from Mexcio blue at the last minute because it look st on new cars imo but I would have got more money on resale.
But on the whole I don't see many nice PTS cars as people go daft/odd then add painted air vents !!! so the end result juts looks rank.
keep it simple and order slate grey or Voodoo blue then you will get more than you paid back for it and it would sell.

Yes , yes , maybe , yes.
But I’m biased.
Cheib looks like the sort of colour that Alex would choose to keep in stock - if only other Managers were as brave !
Ha...I think yes, yes and yes in your case! But I’m biased.

And yes Alex is certainly bold but he does it very, very well. The Sport Classic Grey Macan I saw was one he specced....looked fantastic. He had really gone to town on the interior too in a very good way.

It’s a girl thing - my OH would buy this in a heartbeat ...At the end of the day 90% of car buyers are very conservative with the colour of car they want to drive with showrooms dominated by white, silver, grey and black.

Agree. Most PTS colours I have seen look ste IMO. But then again owners are trying to make a statement with PTS & they don't suit everyone's taste. Voodoo blue or viper green (on GT3's) are the exception but of course this is all down to personal taste. Or as David says go classy & subtle with some of the greys.I switched mine from Mexcio blue at the last minute because it look st on new cars imo but I would have got more money on resale.

I think Voodoo Blue works just as well on GT4's as it does on GT3'sEdited by GameofCars on Wednesday 21st February 10:02

Bold flat colours work on GT cars and there isn't that much variety in the standard range so PTS makes sense, when it's available.
Don't forget the ridiculous lead time on PTS - it should be called PTSL - Porsche Take So Long. You have to really like the colour to tolerate the wait.
PTS caused a 10 week delay on the GT4 which couldn't run in parallel with the 8 week delay for the buckets. These two options caused 18 weeks delay but are my two favourite options so don't regret it at all.Don't forget the ridiculous lead time on PTS - it should be called PTSL - Porsche Take So Long. It is. OPC specced one as a showroom car which sold in a couple of days...my wife saw it when we picked our Cayenne up and just loved it. She’s always wanted a car in a bright colour. .. and I would never drive it - it’s just too much for me!
I do drive it and think it looks great. I am amazed at how many positive comments it gets from blokes as well as girls
