991 Carrera 'T' - Any For Sale?

Friend of mine, who is/was looking for a high-spec 981Cayman GTS, mentioned the Carrera 'T', so thought I'd ask here.

He is vey specific about spec, usual toys plus,must have PDK, ceramics and sports seats.

I gather spec changeable production has ended prior to the big 'shut down'. But, just in case, anyone know of anything available with these options?

No, there isn't. I posted this the other day https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... and it seems that new or newish cars aren't listed.

Yes, just checked - I could only see two, both from OPC Wolverhampton.
Presumably there must be others, but as the post above suggests, they may not be able to advertise them?

OPC Aberdeen have two very well spec'd up. A yellow one and a Silver one. I saw the yellow one last week and it was stunning, fancy it myself. Haven't seen the silver one.

I think the issue is that there will definitely be new unregistered cars in the network but only dealers can see whats available. There would have been a fair amount of hedging and pre ordering by dealers prior to shut down I imagine?

Hatfield had two unsold cars a month ago...and I think JZM thave access to other cars. Seems like a few people have bought T’s to get access to other cars and are looking you sell (that’s where the car JZM is advertising has come from) . At least that’s what they told me.

Someone posted on here the other day that another OPC had T’s...mightb have been OPC Newcastle.

He could try sending an email to all 35 OPCs but I reckon he will struggle to find exact spec he wants, and then I bet it'll be £110k with PCCBs = too much money. Most T's are manuals. I can't see the point in buying the T if going PDK. Buy a 991.2 GTS.

Quoting myself here. Just read this article and Kacher doesn't rate the manual box

"While the GT3 can only be had with a manual six-speeder, the 911 T is offered in two- or three-pedal guise, both of them seven-speeders. Its tall seventh gear allows low-rev driving on the autobahn, but this manual is not one of Porsche's better gearboxes. It's painfully slow, vague and excessively long-legged, and operating the lever feels like stirring a sackful of antlers. Go for the PDK paddleshift option."

you cannot keep putting the T down it's a mini GT3 :-) and far far better than any GT4 .........

The 7 speed 'manuel' gearbox in the T is not as good as the 6 speed in the GT3 or GT4 mainly due to slight vagueness in 5th and 6th gear but that is the only drawback and imo it doesn't detract from the great driving experience of the car. The clutch is as good to use as the GT4 and bizarrely slightly heavier than the GT3 clutch which is way too light for a Porsche GT unless of course you have a weak knee.

As a package the car is superb and is very reminiscent of the first gen 997 to drive. But within limits the spec needs to be minimal. PDK sunroof etc etc clearly adds unnecessary weight.

The 3 OPC cars have been registered up pre factory shutdown and at least two of these won't be available for a month or two.

As of yesterday, theres a white "T" at OPC Sheffield. Looks nice, but at £110k it makes my 991.2 GTS seem like a bargain

Forgive my ignorance, but how can a manual be slow? Surely that is down to the driver, not?
Vague and long throws I can understand, but slow? That it is physically impossible for even the best driver to be as fast as the PDK is a given, of course.

Is there short shift kit like there used to be for the 6-speed manual in the 996/997 available?

id be surprised to see many Ts specced with PCCBs and PDK kinda against the point of the car

I would suggest to your friend to look for .2 GTS 2 Coupes with that spec , and IMO a lot more car for the money
