Those of us with recent deliveries were told various stories about why the mobile boosters had to be turned off. I was under the impression this was meant to be a short term fix but it all seems to have gone quiet. Has anyone heard about the likelihood of a long term solution?

I picked up a new 911 on Thursday and was told to expect a recall to have a new booster module fitted to replace the one located behind passenger door card that had been disconnected prior to delivery.

UK-only issue. Dealer had no idea on ETA for recall.

Has anyone heard any update on this? My OPC just seem to shrug their shoulders when I ask..

You should be able to get it sorted now. Just had mine in for an oil change and there’s a campaign running for the booster fix so they did that too.

Thanks for the update...I chased by dealer up on this last week but haven’t had any reply yet. Have to say, it hasn’t been the greatest introduction to Porsche ownership....I get far better service with Honda & Toyota

Contacted my OPC yesterday, and they told me there was no news on a possible solution.
I’m now totally confused....

Odd - just contacted my OPC and they are adamant that there is still no fix available!

I’m getting absolutely zilch info from my OPC and when I spoke to Porsche GB at the recent Brands Hatch event, they seemed completely disinterested.
I’m getting hacked off about this now. I feel i’ve Paid for a car that has been rendered incomplete (albeit in a small way) and expect it to be remedied. With the new 992 just around the corner, are they just seeeping this issue under the carpet?

I asked for an update last week and was told no news from Porsche. Maybe time to raise the ante?

I emailed Porsche GB last week and have just received a response simply saying there is no news from Porsche Head Office.

I have responded saying this is not good enough and that I have purchased a car that now has compromised functionality. My suspicion is that with the imminent arrival of the 992 they are simply sweeping this under the carpet. I want the problem fixed or an offer of compensation of some type. It’s lousy service imho.

Response from Porsche GB...

“Please be assured your enquiry is not being ignored. Porsche Cars GB Ltd are aware of the matter and this has been escalated as a high priority via our Warranty Department. Our aim is to have this rectified for all our affected customers as soon as possible.

The booster is fitted to the vehicle as standard, and does not affect the functionality of the vehicle, nor should it affect the use of the radio and mobile connective services. Regrettably the booster had to be disabled due to changes in Legislation, therefore it will take time for an alternative solution to be released from Germany.“

Mmmm.... six months and waiting...
And what is the purpose of the booster if its disconnection doesn’t affect the functionality of of the vehicle or use of the radio and mobile connective services?

Had my car in for an oil change ( picked it up today), dealer mentioned that the airbag/tracker issue would be sorted at the same time, but when I mentioned the mobile booster fix, they checked and stated “no fix yet”.

Just to clarify, no permanent fix, whatever the temporary fix was/is, is still effective.

Nick,

What sort of compensation are you looking for? What as this cost you to date>

I mentioned compensation to Porsche simply as a means to get them to take my enquiry seriously - their initial response had been pretty much a brush off. This second one isn’t much better.
In all honesty, I have no idea what this booster does or what I will notice - if anything - if the problem is remedied. That might sound daft, but it rankles me that i’ve paid over £100k for a car, Porsche (and they seem to be the only manufacture caught out by the change in this legislation) have had to disable something that is part of the package that i’ve paid for, and now apparently doesn’t give a toss about fixing it. The only communication I’ve had from them about it is as a result of my direct enquiries - and their responses have been vague at best. It’s poor customer service - and it rankles.
