I was at Brands Hatch yesterday and was talking to one of the Porsche GB members present who seemed senior as staff kept asking him for things and authority to do stuff.

As it was about 8.30am and it was quiet so we had a good chat and were discussing lots of different models and this is what he told me which I took on face value as he seemed to have no need to give me any Bullscensoredt smile

991.2 GT3RS Batch 2 - Will be arriving in April/May 2019 with the new particulate filter fitted. Weissach pack will be available in the UK
PTS - This is going to triple in price going forward and will give those wanting it the option at a much increased cost
991.2 Roadster - Road version announced shortly with 100 expected for the UK
GT4 - Will definitely be the GT3 engine but detuned and with a manual gearbox
Next Generation Macan will be all electric as the floor pan is being developed for battery only
Macan may get a diesel in the UK but probably not on the Cayenne. 70% of Macan sold in Italy are diesel so they need to look at the EU market as a priority and then decide if RHD version is worth doing.
Next Generation Boxster and Cayman will be electric only (lots of test mules are driving around Stuttgart and have been for years developing the technology)
In 5-7 years time they expect the only non electric cars in the range to be some of the 911's and this will be hybrid?
Next GT3 is likely to be turbo charged and possibly hybrid as they are following the race car evolution

One of the biggest threats to the Porsche/VAG brand in the coming years would be if someone like Elon Musk(Tesla) decided to sellout to BMW (or similar) giving them a massive jump up the ladder of electric technology. Porsche GB have a Tesla car on lease which they have been testing for 2 years to see what is good and what can be improved. Also Google/Apple will have a big say in the technology of electric cars and driverless technology going forward.

Take from the above what you want, but he seemed open to discussion and sees the Porsche brand being at the forefront for many years to come.

nice and er not sure, as I wanted to part ex my GT3 for a new GT4 (if it had a GT3 engine and to put some money back into my bank ) but not if the next GT3 is turbo as prices will rocket so much it will be daft for current manual owners to sell up. The pinnacle of the NA manual GT3.

I love my GT3 but if the GT4 can be 85% as good for 1/2 the price that has to be tempting.

PTS has been going up already to daft money I guess it's very easy money for them so they can really price it high.
The rest I don't care about :-)

fixed that for you. that company cannot carry on imo with a net loss of $671 million rising yearly !

Also battery tech/production in it's current state is not sustainable.

Driverless cars and 100% electric cars is pie in the sky crap at any current times frames given imho.

I was surprised when he said the 5-7 years for electric cars (maybe I misunderstood and he was also including Hybrid?)

He definitely said the next generation Cayster was going electric so that will be in 4/5 years time I presume as the current car came out in April 2016 and runs for approx. 7 years.

Reading that lot I'm reminded of the plan to replace the 911 with the 928.

The CEO of Porsche was interviewed in Total 911 a few months ago. He said the first hybrid 911 will be 992.2 generation and "it will be the most powerful 911 ever". If that's the case and GT3 isn't staying N/A then Turbo it is I suppose !

Saw this on another forum last week....apparently leaked production schedule for VW Group EV's. I'd be amazed if Boxster/Cayman went all electric but I guess it's coming sooner rather than later. Timings below not as far out as 5 to 7 years obviously.

Actually i've heard this quoted by top Porsche brass a while ago..Making the Boxster/cayman wholly electric in the next gen makes perfect sense as less risky than from a brand dilution Pov, compared to the hallowed 911.
Porsche have bought a very large stake in Rimac recently alluding to the direction the company sees its future model strategy lies.I'm also buying into the rumour that the next GT3 will go turbo, as it gets increasingly difficult to compete with the totally turbo converts of its competition..
After speaking to my OPC today i'm now virtually 100% certain that there will be a second batch of ..3 RSs coming to the Uk next April with the new GPF fitted.
To surmise i'm pretty sure everything you were told will come to fruition.IMO..

Porsche bought 10% of Rimac, not exactly 'very large'. When Rimac sold a (bigger) stake to the chinese battery company it was for €30m less than a year previous. I think it's safe to say that's a piddling amount of money for PAG and not necessarily as significant as it's made out to be.

And quite curious here, which cars in the £130k/€160k bracket is the gt3 finding it 'difficult to compete with'?

I meant in pure everyday poke terms, its getting ever increasingly difficult for a NASP to compete with a well executed turbo..Cars like McLaren 540/570, Merc GTR etc with 570HP and 500lb/ft+ of torque are significantly faster in everyday driving..Even my 991.2 GTS feels quicker than my GT3 due to the torque..Its getting more and more difficult to rev out the GT3's 9K rev limit on UK roads without attracting the fuzz..
Unfortunately its 'torque that wins races' to coin a phrase despite my personal preference for a good NASP.

It is daft isn't it! But it's also a bit daft that they've kept the Turbo tag for the 991 given that the bog standard Carrera is also "Turbo"

I'll just call it wrong ! but these time scales are a joke for full electric and autonomous cars imo.

Having run an X for two years as a car it is far nicer to drive and use than my .2 RS .
This is the future and yes Porsche will make make amazing far faster versions rendering petrol driven cars to the Museum .
These are the facts and yes it will be much better health wise for the vast majority of People who live in the cities .
Sure I love very noisy , fast cars( in the pre EV era level ) that only get 5 MPG...
But this is the past

You would rather take a 2+ ton suv out for a fun drive out in the sticks than the rs as you think it would be nicer to drive?

As much as i hate to admit it, i'm afraid i have to agree with you even from eradicating local emissions in congested cities with the welcome side-effects of hugely improved human health..
