Talk to me about 991 911 Turbo prices...
Discussion
Hi All, I'm going to be in the market for a 911 Turbo S within the next 2-3 months, but i'm completely inexperienced when it comes to what the prices of these models are doing. I know they tend to hang on to their value, but what i don't want to do is buy something at the top of it's curve, or pay more than it would have cost me to buy the same car a year ago (silly i know but it'd bug me).
What's the current state of a 991 Turbo S? Is now a good time to buy? Is the arse going to fall out of them or have they appreciated? And i guess lastly, with a budget of about 100k, should i wait?
Anything else to know when it comes to the prices of these things?

Gen 1 TS seem pretty good value at mo, Gen 2 that are for sale seem to be 140-160k which i find too steep, not sure where the gen2 911's will go when the 992 is announced October-November.
Ok thanks. So when you say you find Gen 2 too steep, have the appreciated? Will keep an eye out for the 992 release details then! Good shout.
with 100k budget id be putting in a cheeky bid for something like this.

If you want to go even faster think 9e can get 640bhp from a simple software tune!

The pricing is very spec and mileage sensitive. I bought new in March 2017 and sold in Feb 2018 for about 90% of the new cost, not bad value considering.
Whilst they I think they are a better place to put your money than a lot of cars, they won't appreciate. I'd definitely go Turbo S rather than Turbo, which will be seen as the poor relation. And I'd go OPC all the way. It's a really complex car and I'd want that Porsche Warranty. Realistically, I think the starting price is likely to be about 125K for a 991.2 Turbo S.
I also don't think they will take a big hit when the 992 comes along. With the way things are going, I reckon the 992 Turbo 'S' list price might be £200K+

The OP has a budget of 100k so unless we have a recessio gen2 is 18 months to 2 years away...
Prices are solid on the 991.1 turbo S but they are colour sensitive. You might find a deal on a higher miles car in a 2nd or 3rd choice colour but ideally you need to up the budget 10%. Performance-per-pound and also being Porsche's 'supercar' 911 has always kept Turbo prices solid. Quite a rare car / sight too.

is it worth the premium for a gen 2? the gen 1 is already insanely rapid and a great car
the tech is miles ahead for a daily car imo.depends if you want all that Apple car play etc. fun factor is said to be higher also but I have not driven a gen 2 to compare.
both will drop at the same rate so cost to own will be the same, if one can find the extra to buy in the 1st place the gen 2 has to be the buy.

They certainly stock an incredible amount of cars....I saw on Twitter they said they'd sold 100 cars last month. Impressive if true! https://www.redlinespecialistcars.co.uk/used-cars/...

This is a co workers former vehicle. Driven like a girl and traded in against an RS5 they had in. Good car.https://www.redlinespecialistcars.co.uk/used-cars/...
Ive had my 991.1 nearly 2 years and not seen an equivalent spec one since, yet when i offered to trade in the offer from the OPC was £20k below any other S in the network which were comparatively poor in spec, so cecided they can kiss my arse.
Warranties are a must as ive had a couple of small issues sorted which would have been relatively large bills for what they were.
As has been said, .2’s are still strong money, neither have appreciated unless the OPC’s are trying to maximise profit as some advertised are listed for near new prices!!!!
Recently covered over 1100 miles in three days and was a pleasure to do in relative ease and mpg was quite astonishing.
Fantastically engineered cars
Good luck with your purchase

Just sold my 991.2 turbo S to a Porsche dealer for £144,000.00.
18 months old, done just over 6000 miles.
There is a problem with supply and it’s possible no more of this model will be built.
It’s all to do with emissions.
Therefore I believe values could rise.
992 Turbo S will be faster and better in every way I would have thought.18 months old, done just over 6000 miles.

Bought my 991.1 TS in April for £105k @14,000 miles (silver) from OPC. Glass sun roof and Burmeister are the two main extras. A more refined drive than my 997TT - and took a while to get used to a very different “feel” but now I love it. Took it to France and Spain last month - a far better long distance car. No idea what it’s worth now but just enjoying the fun.... hope that’s helpful?
