997 engine in a 996?
Discussion
I’ve seen a couple of threads on how hard this is or isn’t to do, but my question is how can you tell if it’s been done?
My 996 has just been in for a ton of work and in the course of that i was told by a local ‘specialist’ that it has a 997 engine. I’m 99% sure this is BS but of course I’m intrigued.
The fact that observation didn’t come with an increase in the bill leaves me struggling for an ulterior motive (aside from ignorance which I’d accept with this garage).
Given the history and ownership of the car I can only see that this would have been done as a cheap bodge to replace the original, but the threads on this suggest it’s not an easy option.
Any comments / suggestions welcome.
