Just spotted the 996 RS that sold for 83k. This is the same car that sold for 126k at Sotheby's this time last year. The only difference being it is now owned (or part owned) by Sotheby's and has had 30k spent on it?

Any idea what the story is here?

Cars a New Zealand car which had been incorrectly repaired after a accident. Once imported it was put up for sale a dealers, it was made apparent the car needed to be repaired correctly with the original parts. From my understanding this has now been done. I was tempted to bid on the car based on the low reserve but I was unable to trace any history of the car before it came to the UK.

From my understanding it’s recently had the correct windscreen fitted Andy bumpers, but it must of had other works as this wouldn’t come close to 30k.

I’ve seen the car in the flesh a few times, it looked far better the last time, but being honest I never looked in any great detail.

What makes you say it’s part owned by Sotheby’s?

The auctioneer declares it as he introduces the lot. They also had an ownership interest in the Enzo if that’s another one that they have auctioned recently maybe a story there too.
In the case of the 996 RS I guess the buyer last year at 126k had recourse and RM have to refund/make good as researching the history/selling/marketing a clean car is their responsibility

Something is very odd about this car, I can’t see the person who bought it last year for 126k then spending a further 30k on it then to sell it for less than half of what it’s cost them in a very short period of time. The car was also for sale at a OPC for a far higher price, I can only assume they removed it from sale once they had a full understanding of it past.

Has anyone on here bought it?

They declare it at the bottom of the listing.
