I find the oil level indicated varies by 2/3 segments when my C2S 991.1 is checked on a level surface with the engine at working temp. and ignition off for at least one minute. OPC view is that this is probably operational differences??
However my previous 991 was consistent and used no oil between services. My concern is obviously when to add oil if the indicator is unreliable. Approx 200 miles after this image was taken the indicator had gone up 2 segments!!

My 987.1 was the same. All over the bloody place. My m135i is significantly better but I do wish they would put a backup dipstick just so you can be sure. It’s not like they cost a fortune.

That doesn't seem right and would be worth getting the dealer to take a look at it - shouldn't be jumping around by that many segments, and kind of defeats the object of having it as then the risk is that it will be over-filled or run too low.

My RS is always consistent.
Can I ask am I taking the reading correctly?
On level ground with the engine running it takes two minutes to give me the reading.

Are the above posts suggesting engine not running?
Thanks.

My .2 GT3 also takes a two minute countdown for the oil level but I don't think the basic models do

engine needs to be running with engine at operating temperature. It won't be correct with ignition off

911.2 GTS manual states;- vehicle horizontal, engine at operating temperature and stopped for at least one minute.

My routine is engine warm and on a level surface with engine turned off. Leave one minute ignition on and then check.
This is based on the handbook entry.
I will probably need to ask OPC again but did not find the advice that "it depends" very helpful

When my 981 was in at the OPC for its service, my dash cam microphone caught the technician explaining to a colleague how to correctly check the oil level. I recall that the rear boot has to be popped open in order to achieve this.
Yes, it does have the same electronic measuring as yours. No, it doesn't have a dipstick.

I can review the footage and relay the step by step instructions if you like? I can't post the video as I don't have permission from the subjects..
