Oak Green Metallic Carrera GT

Interesting colour and the first recommission of one by Porsche Classic
https://www.carscoops.com/2018/10/porsche-classic-...
Colour looks good. The wheels OMG awful.
I was at Reading today. CGT is in for its major service.
Met with Riccardo and Darren the technician that is looking after the car.
Really nice down to earth guys. Proper people.
Cams all okay.
Coil packs all split.
New starter motor.
New TPM sensors.
The yellow GT1 is now IMO an awful shade of metallic blue.
But each to there own.

My coil packs were split too and also needed new starter motor. Think it was 12k all in, also had them fit mesh to the front grilles as new radiators are 14k. I was at Reading today. CGT is in for its major service.

I wonder if this recommission included any new or bespoke mechanical work, assuming that Porsche would even consider anything of that sort in the first place. Other than having the provenance of having Porsche Classic do the work, especially as everything seems cosmetic, it's not exactly very different from someone here in the UK asking Reading for a custom paint job with an interior retrim?

I think the colour looks really good and shows the lines of the car well.wheels well every one has a differant like.Porsche classic will restore anything if you have enough!
I had a good visit to the classic workshop outside stuttgart, very impressive, they had 4 x 959 in for restore, and rebuilding a 918 that had a big off,you do get a nice photo log and presentation with the invoice.
There hourly rate is not to bad as long as its not a 2 to 3000 hour project like the monte carlo rally car of 1964/65.Which also looked great with good detail and a oversize engine as in period!
I don't mind that if I'm honest. It wouldn't be what I'd do with the wheels but it's hardly turned it into a Gemballa Mirage.
I'm not sure if I've misremembered this, but back when the CGT was relatively new didn't someone in Evo magazine have one repainted at Reading? Think the car became yellow. I vaguely recall some photos of the process with the car stripped of panels etc.

Plenty of cars have been repainted by Reading over the years.m444ttb said:

Yes, fitting front grills is a good call. From memory, the cost of replacing and fitting the main central radiator is £3k (below) and the two side radiators £1.5k each if done as part of an engine out service. I’ve replaced the main central rad and one of the side rads due to minor weeping. As a precaution, I tend to ensure the rads are kept dry when washing and are clear of debris (granted, a little more tricky when grills are fitted).

I am hoping for slightly less with my PCGB discount
. It had new radiators on the service just prior to me buying the car. Rads were about £5K plus fitting I think. Grilles where fitted on the outer two but they are not the ones supplied by Reading as I established yesterday. Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
