GT3 front splitter ground clearance
Discussion
Hi fellow petrolheads, I'm contemplating the purchase of a 997.1 GT3 but was wondering what the ground clearance is from the front splitter?
There are a few speed humps in the vicinity of where I live and want to confirm I'll not be ripping it off at the first 'hurdle'.
Thanks in advance.

If it's anything like the 996 GT3, buy another splitter. Then you have one to fit whilst you remove and repaint the other one. I've had my 996 since August and done about 2.5k miles, splitter removed, sanded, filled and repainted twice already.
An RS one is cheap new, at about £90 from 9Apart.
And my car is standard road ride height!

The 997.1 GT3 is very low, or rather it's the combination of it being low and having a relatively long front overhang giving a very small ramp angle. Mine used to ground out on the camber of the road when I pulled out of my driveway, unless I could pull out at an angle, but that was dependent how other people had parked.
As per the other suggestion, I had two body-painted front splitters: one on the car, getting scuffed, bent and scratched, and another wrapped up safely in the garage which was put on the car when I sold it! I'd definitely recommend sticking with the black splitter to reduce the replacement cost in hindsight, even though the painted version looked lovely on my grey car.

About 85mm if car runs standardise heights I believe. 997.1 pretty much crunches on all speed bumps and multi story car parks.
The good news is they are flexible so damage is normally just scrape marks and there about £150 to buy use to go through 2 a year. Cup splitter cheaper but deeper.

I live in London where there are loads of speed cushions and humps etc and the vast majority just need to be taken slowly. For the cushions that can be straddled, I would recommend not trying to straddle them - the front splitter is the least concern compared to grounding anywhere further back! There are a few speed humps in the vicinity of where I live and want to confirm I'll not be ripping it off at the first 'hurdle'.

I've had the car over 4 years and haven't replaced the splitter. It's scruffy but they can be tidied up pretty easily. Just consider it a consumable part.
The clearance isn't great but bear in mind GT3s don't really compress like regular Carreras so speed humps aren't quite the challenge they might be. But its a consumable, can't believe any of you guys paint them , there's a reason Porsche don't
996 GT3 was worse than 997 IME, 997.2 do have lift on many cars but they're 25k dearer to buy
