5-10% SOR at main dealer.

It costs circa £250k a month just to open the doors at a decent main dealer so you can see why the cost is warranted.

NEVER do SOR regardless of the cost. There's a case going on right now involving a high performance dealership who has sold at least 7 clients cars and not paid them....and vanished Amazingly they have done this in the past and have been disqualified as directors but the law allows them to continue trading. Sadly SOR contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on and the Police view such crimes as Civil matters. A V5 is no proof of ownership so who's to say who the true owner is? When a limited company files for bankruptcy and there are no assets, you'll receive nothing. If you have to SOR, do plenty of due diligence, check Companies House and the financial statements of the company and the legal status of the directors. I know several of these guys and one guy has lost over £200k..it's no joke

If the case is on at present the defendant(s) names are public record. What is the name of the dealership? It would benefit all if you gave the names , a warning like this is only effective if the people alleged to have done this are known making it hard for them to repeat as you suggest they do.

Guildford - 10%

I sold a Ferrari early this year using a specialist in Kent. They did me a deal at 1/2 that rate and the car sold within 2 weeks.
As a rule OPC's will charge more than a specialist, but their overheads are often far higher.

If it's in the public domain and facts are available, it's just passing on news.

What are your opc’s Charging for selling a car on SOR ?
Unless you really value your relationship with your OPC and are playing the GT car allocations game, I wouldn't use them to sell it. Lots of specialists will do as good, if not better a job and charge up to 50% of the price tag.

I just imagine an OPC (especially a Porsche owned one) is a slightly safer transaction, especially in view of the comment above...

That's true, but does depend who you use. I've had great results with JZM, and they do have a good reputation to uphold, but I get your point.

The point about SoR and the risk is a very valid one and something I’ve seen mentioned before....dealer goes bust whilst your car is there I think you are in world of trouble depending on the contract terms. Also depends the car you are selling....OPC’s would probably better at selling a Cayman GTS than a lot of specialists. If it’s a 993 911 Virgin or JZM would be better etc.

Thread here on people getting caught badly on SoR. So maybe people aren’t making it up,,,

I’d be very surprised if any SoR contract allowed the buyer to pay your directly. And I doubt any buyer would do that. One of the reasons people buy from trade is the protection it gives them....if a buyer pays you directly I suspect the law looks on it as a private sale/purchase so they’d lose alll of their consumer rights, The dealer would simply have acted as your agent.
