wher is it safe to jack up a 996 with a trolley jack please?

I have a low - long reach jack and I can see a beam running across the rear of the car in front of the axle - is that OK to use?

I use the jacking points at the end of each sill and I put jack pads in first which still leaves just enough space for my low entry jack.

There is no point to jack the whole rear up. Do not use the bar in front of the engine or the sump, both not recemnded or damage may result

It might not be the answer you wish to hear, but due to the low height its not possible to get a jack underneath anything else other that the corner jacking points with any degree of safety.
I have always used 2 low entry height jacks and raised the car evenly both sides, then some axle stands under the points where the aluminium suspension components are bolted to the bodyshell.
If you only use one jack to do anything more than lift 1 wheel for removal, you will end up with the car rocking on the opposite corner and being totally unsafe to work on.
Alternatively, get a 2 post lift fitted in your garageideaidea

These are a pretty good idea:

I got a set with pads for the 911 and the C55.

I'd love to see the Wheelbrace / Torque Wrench you have to use for that!

Hi used these Porsche Jack Pads myself as i had an issue with the previous aluminum ones scratching the jacking points:

Work perfect now I had repainted the jacking points. Notice they even have Porsche Axle stand jack pads now as well.

Hi

I’ve been using these pads on a few different models (MX5, 5-series & new E-class). I got them in the first instance to stop the jack damaging the car, but they also provide a bit of security in gripping the car too. I’ve not had one damage yet and certainly on the MX5 I’ve used them a lot.

Only slight issue I’ve had is if the clearance is low then I’ve had to drive the car onto something first to raise enough to get the jack & pad under in the first place.

I’d certainly recommend.

Cheers

Can I ask a silly question?

How do you get all the jacks under as surely you have to jack elsewhere to get the stands under the jack points?

Put the plate on the jack, jack the car up, slide the stand under the plate, remove the jack.

They're really clever - nice bit of thinking, nice bit of engineering.

I emailed them in the US, they posted them over. Nice bunch to deal with - fire an email at info@jackpointjackstands.com, which goes to John Walton.
