993 RSR

This beasty just come up for sale. Almost seems reasonable compared to the red 964 RSR which is £1.325m. I wonder why the 993 RSR "only" £500k by comparison?

If anyone has experience which was better round track? Interesting they just plugged the headlight washers up rather than having them properly deleted!

Depends on authenticity , history ( Le Mans , Daytona etc ) , original paint etc etc

Yes, I would echo that. The 964 is the only one so priced accordingly. I hesitate to mention value for money at these rarefied levels but the 993 does look good value in comparison. Utter perfection though for any air cooled fan

Thanks for the info. So the 45 993 RSR to leave the factory based on a nb shell? I understand there were a few wide body 993 RSRs too?

The 964 i dont think from memory is the only one,but very rare and what a car,nearly as nice as the 993rsr, yes a optimistic price but why not.
The 993rsr is one of 22 cars i have found so far,but we believe possibley 29 cars including the two widebody cars. The 97/98 model cars are the last aircooled rsr and very special to porsche nuts,history plays apart with rsr values,but i would say this car is not expensive and a great buy.
My best ever track day and race car i ever owned was the 993cup,until the rsr came along,the grip is on another level,only to bumped off from the factory race car production by the gt3r.

So the 993 RSR based on a NB or WB shell ? I always thought it was NB but was recently told that is was WB.

No,all the 993rsr were built on NB cup chassis,bar two cars that say they are factory WB cars,which would be the gt2 chassis,not physicaly seen them so cant comment as they are not in this country.

Are the bolt on wheel arches on the 993 RSR the same as 993 GT2 or different?

I wasn't there but yes it did.

The guys who are selling it also happen to have a 964RS 3.8 . They drive them, check out H.A.Y.T.H.E.M on Instagram, there's a few videos of this one too. Worth a look.

I dont think so through porsche motorsport,but you can get them elsewhere,such as fvd,a couple of usa companies make them also.
Tony from gtr andover has supplied some for a couple of projects.
Yes bbs but from the motorsport dept of bbs,mr armbuster,at reasonable cost with the ali centres which are a differant shape to the mags slightly,but much stronger and less prone to cracking.

I'm a Porsche novice but for amusement I click on the 'Price (highest)' on AutoTrader and it makes me wonder who on Earth would buy such a thing and what would they do with it? Would you actually drive it on the roads or just polish it in the garage?

Race it ...... have done in the rain with a matching numbers Alex Job Daytona car . Always need to to be driven as intended and a few series now like Endurance legends

If u have cash and you could buy these for reasonable money say £750k for the red 3.8RS at Hairpin one should buy tomorrow. Owner doesn't need to sell doesn't care. She is expensive. Owner knows that but if you want her thats the price end of. Sort of how it is with rare cars. If I won the lottery I'd buy that red car. Its one of my fave cars.

as you say - a euromillions win and I would own both the next day. alas that is unlikely
in a more realistic world, I'd buy a CGT for less money if I had only the money for one car in the 500+ bracket
