Hi there. I am ready to buy my first 911 996, and it comes with a fix rear spoiler (see image). Given I like more the traditional carrera rear spoiler which opens up above 60mph speed, do you know if it possible to replace it on the car? The dealer which is selling the car told me it can be done.
So, assuming he is correct, and that the "fixed spoiler" costs circa £1,000, should I expect to pay a lowr price for the car after the replacement (assuming the dealer keeps the "fixed spoiler"?

The wiring for the rasing spoiler is normally there so should be an easy swap, I would guess you could straight swap someone on the 911 forum as many like the fixed spoiler better, just need to find one the correct colour.

thanks. Do you think the simple swap (no money from/to me) would be good for me of for the other person?

Strictly speaking you should fit the fixed (in your case aerokit Carrera) spoiler with the accompanying front bumper and side skirts - I assume these are also fitted? The aero package is designed to work as a whole. Unstrictly speaking it probably makes no real odds below 70 mph, but you should notify your insurance if you change it (yawn).

Personally I doubt you’ll find anyone wanting to swap - but I might be wrong. You should be able to pick up a used engine lid with a spoiler though. The wiring etc is all there (with the fixed the spoiler the spoiler light on the dash still illuminates up to 5 mph) so should be a case of swap the engine lid, plug and play.

I actually really like the aerokit Carrera spoiler. It doesn’t shout “I wish I had a aGT3” and it looks like a kind of contemporary ducktail to my eye. Sadly though I think the market prefers the GT3 style biplane so I think you’d struggle to convenice the trader it’s worth his while keeping it. But if you can, and you want to, go for it.

Can you fit the standard aero kit/GT3 spoiler to a cab? I think the clamshell might hit it when the roof operates, hence why this car has the lower one.

That’s a good point but he wants to fit a standard rasie/lower deck lid and spoiler.
