Has anyone ever converted a LHD 964 to RHD or vice versa as I aim to do. Any advice on prices to convert parts required or potential pit falls to avoid would be greatly appreciated.

I once took one for a test drive, here in NZ. Quality of conversion left a bit to be desired. You'll go from good driving position to off-set pedals. Leave it be/ spend on other areas of the car. beer

Front frame/body section still available from Porsche I believe - quite reasonably priced by all accounts.

At the end of day it’s your car and money, but seems like an expensive exercise both in cost and loss of value.

LHD is so much better anyway.

Having just seen who asked the question, maybe it will be fine. Still think it’s a mistake though.

Its an insane amount of work on a 964 to do an LHD / RHD conversion, would need to be a very very special reason to do so.

The whole bulkhead between passenger compartment and fuel tank is completely different as is fuel tank, fuel pump location, space for pedal box, VIN plate etc etc etc.

Here is a pic of under the bonnet with fuel tank removed for a LHD car - all that needs changing to make it RHD:

Probably easier to find a RHD shell and transfer everything across than to convert the chassis.

Finally as mentioned above, LHD is BHD (Best Hand Drive) for anything aircooled Porsche - you would be nuts to convert a leftie to a rightie!

Actually, yeah do that. I'll buy the LHD shell off you at the end of it smile

I think you guys misunderstood me, I want to go from RHD to LHD. Either way it sounds like from what you guys are saying a complete bulkhead needs to be replaced. Strange as many cars are built with pre cut holes for either LHD or RHD.

Ahhhhh RHD to LHD, well that is worthwhile wink

Still a metric tone of work and parts but at least you will end up with a better driving position.

If you decide to go ahead drop me a PM and I'll talk you through it and can probably hook you up with some parts and panels.

Good luck.
