Having owned Porsches since 2001 and my 996 GT3 since Feb 2006 I'm going back to Lotus ownership with an Exige.

I guess I'm just one of many who'd love to buy & actually use a 991.2 GT3 with a manual gearbox, but Porsche have no interest in selling the likes of me a new car & I'm just not prepared to pay vastly over list for one. Pretty annoying, but hey, ho it is what it is.

I will really miss driving at the annual Oulton Park RS day - Might still pop up to see everyone & blag a few pax rides.

Sounds like in current market you wouldn’t have had long to wait until the 991.2 GT3 was available at list price...chap on another thread got one only this week at pretty much list...huge availability compared to the demand at the moment
There are 10 manual box 991.2 GT3 on the OPC locator at the moment, it would be fun to offer invoice price on all of those and see if any of them hit you on it, especially in this climate and some dealers might be trying to hit a year end target.

Shame, but I can sympathise and Lotus are making some really nice cars right now too. My mate has both an Elise S and a McLaren 650, and reckons the latter would be sold before the former, because it is so fun and involving.

I don't really know what Porsche GB can do though, because when you look at numbers, there have been ever-increasing allocations of GT3's. I think it fair to say the GT3 is a victim of it's own success.

I remember your car from previous Oulton RS days and I'm sure it won't hang around for long.

IIRC Taffy66 from here was after a place for his 991.2 GT3, so if you haven't sold/got refunded your place, he might be worth messaging.

Got to say I'm shocked at the thought of you selling your GT3 Andy. It must be like a faithful old friend now and fits you like a comfortable shoe...in your shoes I wouldn't be selling it because the latest GT3 wasn't available. In fact I would keep it in preference to getting a new one. The original GT3 is still the best IMO.

This ^^^ (in spades)

Don't do it Andy. The 996 GT3 is such a pure drivers car; sure, the moderns are faster & more comfortable but nowhere near as involving & rewarding to drive IMHO.

It is an old friend & I've loved driving it, but after nearly 13 years of ownership, I want something different & the Exige is a hugely involving, possibly even purer drivers car.

Tim has given up track days.

I may still pop up, blag some PAX rides & come for the beers on Friday at the Fishpool anyway.
