Long time watcher of the forum.

Sold my M235i a year ago thinking a 1.2 corsa for the miles I do would be fine, but I am bored now and fancy something nicer.

Have been watching 997.2 cars for a while (and early vantages) and have seen this one come up?

It will probably sell before I do enough of the man maths to proceed but it seems a good car for the money. I would have any porsche I bought privately inspected, but wondered what peoples thoughts were on this spec.

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Not a fan of the rear wiper, but upon googling seems a lot of people say its essential, a lot say its horrible so very marmite.

Any other thoughts around spec, mileage, anything you'd wish it had?

Thanks in advance!!

Very nice spec with LSD and PCCB’s. Obviously condition of the latter is the most important thing to look at on that car because of the potential expense. Full leather interior make a big difference and is very nice to have !

PCCBs are a nice option but equally you don't really need them for road use, unless brake dust is your nemesis.
Check there condition as has been said and be careful of anyone going anywhere near them, garages, tyre places etc. I was always quietly terrified of damage and the potential discussion that followed about a third party stumping up to fix them at their cost. I had to change discs IIRC.
If you've had them before then you know all this.

I can't think of one reason why you wouldn't buy that car subject to it being inspected and confirmed as a nice example. Best dd Porsche has made in last 20 yrs IMO.

Cheers guys.

Wouldn’t be my first choice of colour always been a grey fan and personally they aren’t my favourite wheels (although surprised how many people love them)

The spec seems great though, mileage ok.

Pccb is just show off spec really lol but a nice option as long as there’s life left in them I thought.

Just wanted to check I wasn’t missing anything or someone was going to show me pics of it being thrashed round a track (not adverse to track use just don’t want to buy anything that’s going to surprise me with costs)

Nice spec I think but the ceramics would put me off at that age. The cost of replacing them or downgrading to the standard brakes is quite high and I know someone that has been through two sets on a 2010

You can send the PCCB to 9e and they offer a refurb service for buttons comparatively. I wish I'd specced them on my 997.

Wouldn’t let the wiper bother you....I’m not a fan of it but when I’m driving my 997 GTS I can’t say it bother s me one bit. Or when I am admiring that wide body rear end for that matter !

I actually find the rear wiper really useful, particularly this time of the year.

Isn’t the rear wiper just that though without a wash system which makes it fairly useless? It may have changed now though

TBH. I’ve just got a Porsche with PCCBs and forget how they stop, they are an absolute doddle to clean. A pleasure. Well worth the money.

Its a manual and there weren't that many produced apparently as most Gen2 cars that come up for sale tend to be PDK.

I wouldn't have PCCBs out of choice

I would lookinto the service history and if its had an oil service every year hopefully by an indy with a reputation then its probably a far better option of buying a cheaper non rebuilt Gen1 car.

Vantages are also getting a little chearper of late but i was disapointed with the last one i drove as i was expecting it to be faster.

Good luck

I wouldn't buy a 911 without a rear wiper. When I get in the car in the morning I have to reverse off the drive. If I didn't have a wiper I'd have to clear the rear screen by hand.

I've never understood why people feel a single small wiper completely ruins the aesthetics of a 911. I don't even notice it.

You'll have to call them and ask them. Been a few years since I spoke to 9e about them as almost bought a GT3 RS with PCCBs that were shot. Think it was a few thousand plus vat/shipping etc as they go overseas. Pretty good value compared to £20k for 4 new PCCB discs.

Or just park so you don't have to reverse?
