Mine's been sitting for a few weeks.

It sits on a trickle charger.

Went to start it yesterday and take for a short run to keep everything circulating...

Put the key in and nothing. Almost like the starter is jammed. Can hear the fuel pump, an exhaust valves cycle but not the slightest hint of it cranking.

Tried jumping it and no change.

Anyone else had this?

Looks like AA homestart will get a call tonight.

Sounds like a simple dead battery to me... Relatively easy to change and would use a Bosche battery rather than the old Porsche one if it's still in there.

Battery is relatively new at 18 months old and it remains fully charged and conditioned with an Optimate. Yes it's a Porsche one to maintain the extended warranty.

Tried jumping it from a booster pack and also from my M3 using good heavy duty cables... it just refuses to turn over.

PCM fires up fine and works. No warnings on dash. Just no cranking, as if the starter is jammed.

Feels just like that... but it's PDK like all 997.2 Turbo S.

Check the voltage of the battery and then go from there. If not it could be the starter motor or ignition switch however definitely one a garage is going to have to look at.

Voltage is fine just over 13 off the charger.

AA homestart will get a call tonight.

Always start with the simple things, battery, ignition feed to starter, starter... if it’s none of those panic.

Is it left outside?

Right now it is. Trying to sort a long term storage option for it and some other toys, that's not too far from home so I can use them.

When I had PDK I'm pretty sure that it would not turn over unless in Park or Neutral with foot on the brake. So there must a sensor on the shift lever (and brake pedal?). Try moving it about in case it's getting a false reading from the sensor that's stopping it from turning over?

Done all that... will post outcome of AA breakdown visit.

What you're describing sounds to me like an immobiliser system which is still active. Perhaps a silly question, but have you re-synced the key with the car? When my 997.1 is sat for IIRC ~10 days, the key needs to be used to physically unlock the door instead of plipping, to reconnect it.

My 996 use to 'go to sleep' after 3 days. After which you needed to use the key to unlock and lock the door, then unlock as normal. My 997.2 does the same but after 4-5 days.

AA technician agrees that it's the symptoms of a jammed starter... unfortunately because of where I've parked it, it's near on impossible to get in there to tap it. As it's under warranty, time to get it to my OPC.

Just for info, you can wake up the 9x7.2 models by simply lifting the door handle and then use the remote to unlock as normal. No need to use the key in the lock.

Good luck OP in getting the no starting resolved.

Close... was battery in the tracking fob... I never knew that would do that. At least it's nothing serious.

That's the one I meant to be honest. It happened to me when I first got my car so I carry a spare battery with the tracking fob now.
