I am going to upgrade my suspension on my 2004 996 turbo and would like some advice. I want the setup for track and road. The manufacturers I have been looking at are;

1. Ohlins
2. Nitron
3. Tractive

Does anyone have any experience with any of the above (preferably on track) or any other make fitted to the 996 turbo and what are the benefits/disadvantages between them.

Thanks in advance.

I have the Ohlins R&Ts on mine. Good on the road, though the front damping isn't perfect. Rears are spot on.
Only done one track day since, at Goodwood, where the car ran very strongly against some 991.1/.2GT3s and the odd 991RS.

I reckon they were worth around 3-4 seconds a lap over the optimised (for me by CG) stock set up. Will be able to report more after the PCGB Anglesey day in May, unless that's too far away?
On track they were fairly good, though I felt that the front tyres lacked grip under braking compared to the standard stuff. Goodwood has a strange corner for my car, No Name, where on approach the car would get a very 'loose' sensation coming from the rear end, which was pretty unsettling, though my set up guy reckons this was due to the settings I used on the day.
I ran 6 from full stiff front and rear at first, but owing to these strange feelings, settled on 6 front, 9 rear, finding that the softer rear damping helped to stabilise the car in that one area.
Once I can run on a more forgiving track I will go stiffer all round to see how that feels.
I have since had another 1/4 degree of camber added at the rear, which feels fantastic on the road, so I'm hopeful that will translate to the track, too.

On the road the most noticeable thing is turn in, which improves drastically over stock. Comfort is good despite having spring rates that are approximately double those of the standard car.

Hope this helps.
